Tips for dealing with Satan?
I feel lost on his attacks, they feel random and unfair to me, but that might just be me being bad at the game. I felt like I usually only kill him on the OP god runs pretty much

I think the Wiki-article explains the attacks quite well.

https://bindingofisaacrebirth.fandom.com/wiki/Satan

I will post it below again just so its here in this post.

The battle against Satan has three distinct phases.

Phase 1
The first phase starts with a slight delay after Isaac enters the room:

Satan shouts, and roughly two seconds after Satan's voice dies out, The Fallen The Fallen spawns at the center, with two Kamikaze Leech Kamikaze Leeches to either side.

Phase 2
Once The Fallen is dead, the Devil Room statue at the top of the screen transforms into Satan's first form. He stays near the top of the room moving horizontally and performs the following attacks:

Spits out 2 consecutive spreads of 5 and 4 projectiles towards Isaac. He chains this attack at least twice.
If Isaac is to either side of him, he can:
Shoot half-rings of 8 projectiles from both his hands towards the left and right sides of the room.
If Isaac is below him, he can:
Shoot two Brimstone Brimstone lasers from his hands, that curve towards each other while leaving a gap in the middle.
Charge up and fires a Brimstone Brimstone beam from his mouth directly downwards.
If Satan is pushed too far away from the top center of the room he will rapidly spring back to that position.

Phase 3
After depleting his entire second phase health bar and reaching third of his total HP, he flies off-screen and has one attack:

Stomps the ground with both of his feet at Isaac's previous positions, similar to Mom Mom's stomp attack, but with less delay. The stomps come down one after another, and after two stomps, they persist a moment before both are retracted.
Up to two Kamikaze Leeches continuously spawn during this phase.
They can be killed by Satan's stomp but will also deal considerable damage to him.
There appears to be a maximum amount of Kamikaze Leeches that can be spawned as they stop appearing if the fight draws out for too long.
Satan's projectiles and contact damage deal a whole heart of damage. Once Satan is defeated, remaining Kamikaze Leeches die alongside him.

What I like to do is that I try to be diagonal to "The Fallen" (also after it splits into two).
That way the brimstones don't clip you as easily.

Phase two, I also tend to be either on the top-right of the room, or in one of the lower corners of the room. If you hug the wall, it should be easier to dodge the shotguns (the circle-spreading tears) and as long as you're above him he won't brimstone you.

In the third phase I basically just run around in circles. Gotta be careful that the exploding leeches don't kill you, but by constantly moving around you can easily dodge the hoofs stomping down on you.

Hope that helps.

And as an addendum:
Many of the bosses are much easier if you have high Damage because the less time it takes you to take out the boss, the less time there is for you to make mistakes.
So, just apply everything you have during this fight.

Could bring the slow-down pills, or use your bombs (don't blow yourself up!), everything that gives you an edge in the fight. Sometimes its just worth it to "save" a good active item's charges for that one boss-fight that might give you trouble.

Another thing, there's a bug in satan's code that lets you skip his stomping phase if you bring him to exactly 0 health, which takes exactly 6 bombs. It requires you to deal no extra damage though, he has 600 health and bombs do 100 damage. Even 0.1 extra damage will make his stomping phase start as usual.

make sure you focus more on dodging rather than shooting. He has relatievly low hp anyway and at that point of the game you should have at least decent familiars to let you help damage him. In his second phase you can go all in and burst him (it is also recommended because he summons exploding charging worms).
