It was just made a lot better, for example, The Body still has a normal chance to spawn in an angel room, but it was lowered to 0.2 for item rooms, just to make it more of an angel item, but not completely removing it from other pools
I don't remember how this thing was called, but before rep there were some "epic" items. If you got one of them, chances of getting another one were close to 0 (unless you can break the game). That's what got removed in rep
Oh, right, the "special" items system. That's what's gone.
Anyhow the wiki has extensive mechanical discussions (like how weight decrementation works) and is probably more reliable than some nonentity forum poster like me.
