Urn of souls bug?

Spoilers ahead in case you havent unlocked the Urn of Souls

Hi everyone, i recently unlocked the challenge with Bethany where your only means of attack is the urn, although when i click use, she merely shakes the urn an nothing heappens, i try holding space, clicking sideways to attack, is it a bug or am i doing something wrong? i have looked at some threads but heavent seen anybody raise this issue, maybe i just dnt know how to use it, so any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

EDIT: Thanks everyone who has dedicated their time to help, i really appreaciatte it, you ppl are awesome! I managed to fix the bug on my own, appearantly it had to do with the effects being deactivated causing the item not to trigger. Removing the .ini document in my resources folder fixed the problem for me and i have managed to beat the chalenge since. In addition, ive sent a bug report to Nicalis and i hope they fix it so people can enjoy the chalenge regardless of their setup.

u need souls from killing enemies for it to work. if you run out you're pretty dead in this challenge

Using the urn acts like a toggle between it and regular tears. To fire the urn you need to kill enemies, which will grant charges (you will see number of charges next to the urn, 20 is max I think)

Okay, thanks for the ansewer, right now my problem is, the kills go to guppys paw where theres a little "+number of kills", and i have no means of making any kills, no bomb nothing, how do you get that first kill? thanks in advance for the help

Bethany's mechanics:

Bethany is unable to utilize Soul Hearts and Black Hearts as health. When picked up, they instead are converted to a resource unique to Bethany called "soul charges" at the rate of one charge per half heart. The number of soul charges currently owned is listed along with the pickup counters. Soul charges can be consumed to use Bethany's activated item when the item isn't fully charged, at the rate of one soul charge per empty bar of charge

At the start of the challenge you have some soul charges you can use and whenever you run out you have Guppys Paw to convert red hearts into charges as well as trinket which generates red hearts - that's the gist of the challenge

Of course you can get lucky with items like Revelation/Maw of the Void (provided you have them unlocked) that allow you to still attack even when blindfolded

Thanks for the detailed explanation; Im pretty sure my chalenge is bugged as even with soul charges after any kills with bombs, i am completely unable to activate the urn. Nothing heappens, despite me having soul hearts and Urn charges, but thanks for the concern and the detailed explanation!

Well, one last thing I can suggest is maybe you expect the urn to shoot when it's pulled out but that's not the case - after it's activated you need to shoot as you would with normal tears and as far as I remember there's also a small delay before the fire actually comes out

If it's actually bugged then I suppose your only option to complete it is debug console

Hello again, thanks for the ansewer, I have updated the thread with the solution, it was indeed a bug related to one of the effects i have removed for performance concerns. I managed to complete the chalenge and sent a bug report to the Nicalis team, Thanks for all the help, have a good one :)
