Why do I drop my trinkets/consumables?

I've been seeing this happen a bit lately and don't get why. I don't see any commonality with my items.

The only common thing I can see is that I'm playing on the "Endless basement" easter egg but even so I don't have any of the others active.

If you drop them all at once make sure your controller/keyboard isn't malfunctioning and pressing the corresponding button without you noticing.

There's a button to drop them?! I've pressed every button before without dropping anything

Yeah, hold CTRL to drop your trinkets and cards/pills. It's the same key used to swap between cards/pills.

The default for a controller is one of the triggers (I think?), so maybe you are holding one of them down without noticing it.

Oh wow I didn't know that was a thing. I thought once you held a trinket you were stuck with it until you picked another one.

Yeah it's the right trigger. I'm not holding it down though they're pretty stiff. Regardless at least I know now, thanks!

The Tick is the only trinket you can't get rid of that way. The only way to remove it is to pick up the Match Stick trinket (not considering effects which make trinkets permanent passives, like Gulp pills and the Smelter).
