Why does greed/greedier even exist?

Legit question, both of these modes are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SOULLESS. Unironically nobody would ever say they enjoy these for what they are. It seems like a cheap content lock for actually good items behind a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ boss with even ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mode gameplay. And when you thought this steaming pile of ♥♥♥♥ couldn't get worse there's greedier.

Just why would you make something so unfun to play? It's honestly a chore rather than something to like, you either break it with D20, Two of Diamonds or other ♥♥♥♥, or suffer through it like it's "intended". I love Isaac but this alone makes me ♥♥♥♥ my briches whenever i have to touch it.

Not a fan of vanilla Greed/Greedier as well, but I like playing them with some QoL mods or custom rules

Does donating on Greed or Greedier make any difference? Like is the Greedier donation machine the same as Greed?

No to the difference part. Yes, they are both the same machine. You get the same amount of money that you've donated before and both work towards the same donation achievements

The machine is less likely to jam in Greedier mode.

Greed Mode was a fun alternative and very exciting when it released. I think it is still quite fun for what it is.

It still is, but the Greedier is absolute ♥♥♥♥ and on top of that the reversed tarot cards are locked by it.

I'm sorry, what? Are you sure you don't have it the other way round? I've had way more early machine jams in greedier compared to greed mode, Even had the machine jam on me twice with a single penny on my recent playthrough.

Are you trying to farm with the same character? Because it makes the machine jam very quickly.

That depends what you mean by farming. I've mostly been focusing on beating greedier mode with characters that I haven't completed yet, so if i complete one character, i move on to another. Wait, does the "resetting/dying a lot with the same character" part cause the machine to jam more often?

Greedier is about item density.

Rwstart until

- good silver room item like damage+tears

- a decent item on sale in the shop for 7¢

AND

- something useful in the curse room like bombs, stat up pills or a rune

Then you'll do fine.

I think its a cool idea on paper but wasn't executed the best. Can't really offer any solutions, maybe a few balancing changes like increasing the timer on some of the later levels in Greedier, idk though, maybe it's just destined to be ass
