- If you uninstall Repentance, play AB+ for a while, then reinstall Rep later, any progress you made in the meantime will not be ported to your Repentance save. You'll have to choose between keeping your recent AB+ progress and loose all your Rep progress, or go back to your current Rep file and loose any AB+ progress you just did.
- Likewise, when uninstalling Rep, any progress you made since you installed Repentance will not be on your AB+ file.
He can and quite possibly is.
You do realise we can call see you cheated to get your achievements?
Ok that gets a bit confusing xD
For example… im playing standard rebirth atm. What happens after upgrading to afterbirth and/or repentence?
Will my file still be viable from rebirth?
(I know it's long, but bear with me.)
Let's suppose you have a Rebirth save and then you install Repentance and play a while on it. Doing so, you keep playing on that save and you unlock a bunch of things from AB (like Lilith), AB+ (like the Forgotten), Repentance (like Jacob), and some Rebirth content as well (like Blue Baby).
(I only mention characters in this example, but same thing applies to any other content obviously.)
Then, for some reason, you decide to uninstall everything and go back to pure-Rebirth (same logic will apply to other versions). You'll be back on your Rebirth save exactly as it was when you installed the expansions for the first time, which means Blue Baby will not be unlocked here (despite being Rebirth content).
You now keep playing on that good old Rebirth save, and at some point you unlock the Lost. "Oh great, now I'll reinstall my expansions!" you think. Sure, you can do that.
However...
You already have a Repentance save, and on that one you have Blue Baby (and other things), but not the Lost. And the game will load that Repentance save without even wondering what may have changed on your old Rebirth one. Welcome to the wonderful worlds of "inconsistencies" and "having to do some things again"! Wooo!
By meddling around with your saves and Steam cloud, you'll end up having to choose which version of reality to keep:
- Keep playing your old-but-continued Rebirth save and reset any AB/AB+/Rep unlock you may have had
- Forget about your extra pure-Rebirth progress and go back to your old Repentance save from before you uninstalled it.
I know, you can bring unlocks back into the save by forcing the game to read your Steam achievements (by pressing alt+F2 in the secrets menu), which would fix the in-game secrets menu and therefore you would have access to the Lost on that save and any other things you unlocked on that extra Rebirth progress... However, this method is messy: any completed challenge will not be crossed out, any earned completion mark will not appear on the character selection screen, any earned stat will not appear magically out of thin air (items in the item list for example), cumulative unlocks ("do thing X times") could be reseted (depending on which one and which save you use the alt+f2 command on).
TL;DR: No data is shared between versions. Uninstalling expansions and doing progress on each game version not in order is a mess. If you can avoid it, do yourself a favor: avoid it.
And if you end up doing that anyway, don't cry because you lost some progress you wanted to keep. That's entirely on you.
