Does the D20 exploit not work in Reptentance anymore?

I've been trying for a few days now to beat Greedier mode with the Lost and I'm kinda losing my sanity here. I've been trying to do the D20 exploit but it doesn't work. Did they patch it for Repentance?

not really, you can still do it, but it takes a bit of luck now and additional items like mom's key or guppy's tail

The exploit still works. I'm doing like this usually.
Once I get the D20, l will search a shop which sells batteries (or use the reroll machine)
Then I'll fight all 10 waves to get all the coins and reroll them.
I'll only open chests, pick up nickel and dimes and manage to keep enough money to buy batteries.
After few reroll, you'll break the game.

I dunno, it hasn't worked for me the times I used it. I did the same thing, only picking up enough coins to be able to buy batteries from the shop and eventually the re-rolls aren't useful. Maybe a bunch of hearts I can't use since I'm playing as the Lost, or other stuff and I run out of money to buy hearts. Eventually, the pickups become fewer in number too. Also, I read that grab bags were supposed to be among the pickups but it never happened to me.

I usually buy the D20 from the 3rd floor but almost never from the first floor since I focus on damage / tears up / tear modifiers.

The general rule is to kill the enemies quickly and don't waste money on less useful items or reroll machine.

Already-opened chests are no longer rerolled, so it's no longer a guaranteed infinite. It's still a crazy amount of return on investment though!

Yeah, I read about that change but I was still under the impression it worked. In any case, I'm not sure what did I do wrong for it not to work.

Then you either have extremely ♥♥♥♥ luck or take too many pick ups, thus preventing them from turning into chests. Again, this is more recommended on a brand new floor without picking up ANY new coins from waves, it's not worth pulling on a few waves. Mom's key basically guarentees you a pay roll and easy break.

Only drops I take are coins and just 5 so I can buy another battery from the shop to charge the die. If a nickle drops, I pick that instead and nothing more. But I can't keep pressing R until I get both the D20 (or D Infinity since I have it unlocked) and mom's key in the game. Problem is, the die tends to sometimes reroll the pickups to too many of the same thing like a bunch of hearts or a bunch of bombs, neither of which help me recharge the die for another use.

You may want to take a second battery's worth of coins just to reduce that possibility; specifically the hearts one because bombs now ignore boss armor.

Again, the consistency has taken a hit but it'll still turn those pennies into much more valuable things than you'd get for spending them at the cost of less control over the result.

Last time I tried the exploit, I had 30 coins on me. For a few rerolls, I didn't pick up anything and bought them with that money alone. It still failed. So yeah, I'm pretty confused on why it's not working at all.
