Question regarding phd and false phd

So I got false phd and then nearly immediately after picked up phd. I didn't find any negative pills during the run and was curious if those two items cancelled eachother out. I was going to test it myself but didn't have much luck finding any pills aside from good ones *understandably*

I've never had them together myself, but someone answered elsewhere that they sort of cancel out - as in, you can get good and bad pills like normal - but you still get the bonuses from the false phd for using bad pills.

Just second hand knowledge tho, so could be wrong.
