Bethany is fun, though. Has interesting synergies.
Can't speak of the tainted characters yet as I've only unlocked a few and would rather not play as them before completing everything as the "normal" characters first... Jacob and Esau however are really not fun to play as though
I wouldn’t say Jacob & Esau is too difficult, just obnoxiously complicated. I would expect something like this as one of the challenges, not a full blown character.
I think they're an interesting character, but not one i'd ever play casually after getting their unlocks.
Oh yeah, Tainted Keeper is one of my new favorite characters.
1.Buffs from active items, pills and cards aplies to both charcaters
2.Make them both start with -1 size, biblicly they are the sons of Isaac, so it makes sense for them to be the smallest duo
3. 2 boss items like in multiplayer
Character will likely be enough for me to not pursue 100% this time and i have done it for afterbirth twice and AB+ once.
If Esau actually followed Jacob unless you separate them intentionally, sort of like isaac's heart works now, instead of just moving the same way and getting stuck on things and inadvertently separating all the time because they even block and nudge each other, then at least it wouldn't feel like I'm fighting against the controls a lot of the time - something that is never the case with any other character.
Permanent flight on both or gnawed leaf cheese on Esau are options to make them far easier solo, but it's not like you can reliably get either of those in every run.
I find him difficult, you're basically starting a run with pre-repentance Isaac's Heart, or with two characters with half as many items as you'd expect on 1 character and twice the hitbox. In some rooms, which are designed to be played as one character it's literally (no exaggeration) impossible to dodge an incoming attack unless you lighting reflexes teleport yourself out of there and even then it may be a necessary room to traverse through.
I played a Keeper run a while after struggling with Jacob and Esau and beat Mother on the first try.
And sure The Keeper has been buffed to a massive degree but even pre-buff I'd still have prefered to play as The Keeper
