The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Genesis is a terrible item.
Yeah, I have gotten this thing 3 times and it killed my run, It is like a worse D4.
Can we please extend the selection to 5 items?

how can it be a worse d4 when d4 does the same thing without a choice at all. d4 now follows item pools when rerolling now, it's like using a d4 3 times and picking the item you want for each slot from the 3 rolls

D4 allows you to keep your current health unless given by an item and stats. Genesis resets EVERYTHING and if you had 3 or more Angel Room Items, yeah consider those gone and replaced by lower tier items.

So, the problem is you have to think if it's worth it before using the item instead of going braindead mode? Just trying to understand what you mean.
I like Genesis. This is my favorite song of theirs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3q7UH6pvwwQ

Wow, first mean.
"You have to think"
Well given you call me brain dead and then reply with a stupid retort yourself, I guess I do not have to be respectful towards you, how did you go this far in life without a punch in the face? A complete mystery.

Now, since you are admitting on the same post that reading comprehension is not your strength , then allow me to make this very simple for you:

Hard to unlock, little reward, rare to find, total trade down.

Listen here smooth brain; Isaac is based on RNG mostly and we have two new boss paths that require you to be in tip top shape and a very polluted item pool.

If you go for let's say Delirium, Genesis is not worth your time, if you already good enough to take Angel Room items you do not need the reshuffle, in fact Genesis is worse than entering to a Devil Room with two troll bombs given that is almost as getting no item whatsoever.

However...
The chance of obtaining items and improved SYNERGY is very appealing if you are aiming for either The Beast or Mother as both are very difficult in comparison, which I am guessing was the point of this item but it is a trade down for the following reasons:

This is what Genesis does:
Resets your stats including non item related stats, that alone is terrible, forget all your pill related boosts. Health, Luck, Tears...etc. It also removes spirit hearts, imagine using this as Blue Baby.

The current meta is stacking up health, so this reason alone makes Genesis a trash item but wait there is more:

If you got heart containers through pills or other means, you need to waste an item slot on health which is not guaranteed to appear in the reshuffle. It is possible to arrive to whichever floor with only base health, once more, this is a rare Angel Item, you are most likely to get it late game.

And then...

Sends you to the equivalent of an I AM ERROR room.
I hope you done finishing the floor, this is also terrible. I got this item after the mom fight so I had to proceed to utero instead of returning to the angel room to proceed to the mausoleum for the alt path, you do not go back to where you initially used the item. Not sure if this may cause the game to crash if used on Home.

Bear in mind, I got completion marks for some of the hardest characters so I got this item early and there is not even a good entry for this item yet, so even assuming it is a thinking man item is pretentious of you, you have no shame in your idiocy.

And finally...

Then it does what it supposes to: Removes your items and gives you options to rebuild again.

This was in my case very appealing because my items were mostly store related but when you can get 3 bad space bar items and no synergy. If you got angel room items you won't get equivalent items. You cannot trade some of the bad angel room items for items of the same pool or store items for similar ones. Same for devil room items.

As you see this item is not worth the unlock and does not belong in the angel pool, now there is an item that is worse than breath of life.

But a moron like you might say: "dURR tHERE mIGHT bE A sITUaTIONAL UsE fOR eET".
No there is not for the first two reasons, a return to base stats and health removal not to mention the item rarity. Given that most people press R rather than sustain a run with bad items for 40 minutes before they even get to Mom, there is no use for this item unless it stops taking health away from the player or removes non item related stats, then I get what you are trying to imply (Not that it would make you less of a moron)

But there is a good Genesis equivalent in the game:
"R"
R Key is super broken and one of the best surprises so far, I have not seen anyone yet covering this item and it is sooooo goood.

R resets your run and timer WITH YOUR CURRENT ITEMS. I got this on Sheol. It is like a Victory Lap that allows you to get achievements. This is what Genesis should had been and R key requires no unlock and can be found in Secret Rooms.

As you see balance is all over the place, I could understand if R Key restore your base stats but allow you to keep your current items and if Genesis reshuffled while keeping your current stats, that makes total sense and there would be an use for both items.

In conclusion and thank you everyone else for reading my blog:
R Key is absolutely busted while Genesis is absolute Trash. There should be a balance between incredibly broken and incredibly bad not to mention D4 is way more common and easier to get and allows for multiple uses, Genesis much like The Clicker are trade down items not worth anyone's time.

genesis (according to the wiki) uses the same pool as removed items, but gives you 3 choices for each set. So either the wiki is wrong (and you should go edit it, oh so intelligent user), or you are wrong about the effect (i don't know, i wasn't there), or it is bugged (fairly possible, it's a new item and it seems pretty intricate).

I guess I should, it also ignored key pieces. Not sure if that is a bug or a feature.
Also why not try it yourself, enable debug and use it, see what you think.
