Tainted Maggie vs Endgame Bosses?

What's the catch? Do you need specific items to make sure Delirium fight will work? Also, it seems what Ultra greed fight drops for her is kinda nerfed. Haven't managed to get lots of heart drops from key door gapers.

Delirium rarely drops any enemies to be fed upon.

What need to be done?

Gnawed Leaf or similar regular invincibility effects. At least if you want to do Tainted Maggie things instead of just regular broken stuff.

Yeah, pretty much. You can either have a super broken normal run or an immortal combination of items. Something like maggy's bow/wafer/cancer + habit/sharp plug

edit: maggy's bow doesnt synergise with yum heart actually, i think i had car battery when i did it, although maggy's bow is still a big help with clearing rooms. Also search for moms locket

Tainted maggy's gimmick works up to depths 2 I'd say. After that you get 1 full heart damage from enemies so it's not worth "hugging" them. So just play the rest of the game as you would normally but make sure you can regenarate hp somehow and don't backtrack a lot.

Just like any other bad thought of character: get lucky with items. Besides normal damage stuff, habit + book of shadows is good on her, can tank more damage.
Unicorn stump + 4.5 is broken on her but i never got it and it will be for sure unreliable against delirium.
Also same thing if you dont have unicorn stump - any orbitals that deal contact damage are semi bad on her because if you kill enemy with orbital you wont get half heart spawned semi nullifying her tactic with hugging.
Just like was said above - after depths 2 it is pretty much same maggy but her hp drains out

I found it pretty easy to get all her completion marks with relatively average runs. Get as many red heart containers as possible as you breeze through the early game hugging stuff, she's really good at playing sacrifice rooms for angel items and getting angel rooms in general. Never enter your first devil deal room, go full angel, even pop 10 coins in your donation machine to boost your angel chance if you can.

Fill up all your containers in the rooms prior to a big boss, they'll drain during the fights meaning you need to have a decent amount of damage to beat the fights in a reasonable amount of time but this is plenty doable with how good she is at getting angel items. A 4.5 Volt from the shop is also likely to give you a free win against these bosses.

Delirium is definitely the hardest fight for her, but depending on which bosses you fought leading up to him he can still spawn a lot of small enemies to heal off of. For Ultra Greed, stacking up on spirit hearts in the shop in one of the final floors isn't a bad idea, since red hearts drain first, meaning they will soak a lot of hits.

Tainted Maggy needs a slight balance change: bosses should drop at least a full heart container instead of a half one. Chest/Dark Room are a pain to do now since health drains way faster there then you can restore it. Since it's mostly bosses over there.

Yeah, car battery synergizes, it gives around 5 hearts.

I really want to get sharp plug, but shops for some reason now have not shown this item for a long time.

Huh, I haven't found problematic backtracking. Only those bosses seems to be problematic. But isn't drain of soul heart going along with taking red health damage?

If you have more than 2 red hearts then your red hearts always drain first, so the soul hearts can stick around and take damage while you keep the red hearts healed up. Soul Hearts aren't very valuable in normal modes, but to stack up on before Ultra Greed is worth it. Especially since getting an abundance of red heart containers is harder in Greed Mode.

Keep in mind that the Mom's Locket trinket makes all the half hearts that drop into full hearts along with healing you when you use keys. That trinket is amazing as Tainted Maggy and can prob be bought in a greed shop.

Otherwise as others have said I recommend going for shops and trying to snag a damage reduction item (or more likely a percs pill) and habit and/or 4.5 volt. Shops can be really powerful for Tainted Maggy. Also go for angel deals. The character can't really afford all the devil deal container loss imo.

Regardless, there will be fights where you bleed down to 2 hearts and you just kind of have to hope your dodging pops off. I had that happen during the Beast and it's always irritating.
