The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Sword of damocles should have an effect when its 'primed'
And by that i mean when it has been activated to drop. It should have an effect, like blood dripping from it, or the string should be replaced with a rope and it should be almost cut just barely hanging on by a thread.

Some effect that would show that the sword is ready to fall

but why? You should know that you are going to die if you get hit. to be fair I had a damocles run today with tainted jacob on hush&bossrush and to be fair it was really strange that it looked like not actived one

For clarity's sake. It feels wrong that it doesnt have one.

Also, if you're streaming the game, and someone joins your stream, they wont know if you've been hit or not. Same for skipping in a youtube video.

It just feels incomplete without a subtle 'indicator' that its about to kill you

You should know as soon as you get hit that the sword is ready to fall; why would you need an indicator?

I suppose a cosmetic effect like that might be flavorful, but would that be true to the story that the item is based on? There was no blood dripping or a fraying thread in the actual Sword of Damocles story, was there? It was always just a sword simply hanging by a thin hair, and that's what the item just is. I don't feel like sprucing it up is really necessary.

Yeah, it not having any indication does its origin more justice. Very cool item. A mod might get made that does give an indicator, so just hope for that.

Not having an indicator adds to the tension that the item is supposed to provide.

Well, I think everything goes from sword of damocles story. If you will know the one, I don't think any visual cues would need there.

I do think that an indicator that you had been hit would be nice, but it definitely should not have an indicator right when it is about to drop (if that is what you are saying). I do like the idea of it sticking closer to the original story, but as someone who watches a lot of Repentance without constantly staring at the screen it would be nice to glance at the screen and say "oh, he still hasn't been hit yet" or "welp, guess he better start praying".

I really dont get, why having an indicator for being hit, would ruin the feel of the game, OR the mythology of the sword.

Im not asking for a giant metal gear style exclamation mark when its about to drop.....

The point of the story is that the sword can drop at literally any time. That it even has a trigger is a concession to good gameplay.

So you can feel how Damocles felt, when he got that sword on him.

Do you know the story behind the sword? Basically the idea is, as King, yes, your word is law, but you could be assassinated at any moment. As a general rule, assassins don't announce their presence.

Do you people dont know how to read?

For the last bloody time, im not asking for a countdown timer to know that i have exactly 3 minutes and 25 seconds left before the sword falls. I want a graphical cue that the sword is in its 'second phase', where it falls. Whereas the first phase is before you take damage.

If you know the sword is going to fall you can become invincible to stop it killing you. Like if you get gnawd leaf

Pretty sure they know mate, they just disagree with your suggestion, don't get bitter about it.

Also, I thought it did have an indicator? Like it would start to slowly sway around after you took damage? Or was that only in Antibirth?

Nope, you are right. Once you get hit one time, it will start to sway a little more.

Also, the lost or tainted lost with this item = easy win.
