Tainted Jaco, for example, is really hard. But if you're good, you can use Dark Esau as an offensive "item".
For the rest of your rent : Yeah. The made the game balanced. It's not "fun" anymore because they don't just spoon feed you broken runs. I can understand why it sucks for you. But I personally think it's a really good thing. You don't have autowin runs anymore and have to work for it. The game was way too easy before, the only challenge was to start a fresh save so you don't have broken items every game.
What type of room "forces" you to take damage ?
And yes, before the maj, you had a lot of auto-win runs as long as you survived the first 2 floors. Going Devil Deal made the run easy af, with broken items all over.
Tainted character are a test of skill. Jacob included. You're just not good enough for it. And it's ok. Nobody forces you to play it if you don't like it, sure you won't unlock it's items. And ? You don't need them, you can always come back later when you're better at the game, better at dodging etc.
Also, tainted characters being a test of skill? lmao they're all both easier and less boring than their main counterparts except ones like lost/laz so pls get off ur high horse with your 'just git gud bro' talk
It only affect me at the start, but now it feels like the same game as I was playing all the time.
(yes, I'm aware of the bomb fly room. yes, it looks terrible. no, I haven't encountered it. I'll see how it goes when I see it.)
people want to play new content. people want to be around where new and cool things happen, even if that means voicing their disappointments. they voice their disappointments because they want to be able to enjoy the new content and experience the new things people talk about. telling them to go back to the old ways won't help them get what they want, meaning they won't listen to you.
and the OP said they like most of the new content. no idea why they're being so hostile, though.
If you end up in a really bad room with 'unavoidable' damage for Tainted Jacob .. can't you just press Anima Sola to hold him in place, and use a bomb to open the door (behind you or at the other end of the room, depending where you have to go) and get out of the room before Esau gets free?
I feel like as long as there are tools available to deal with any particular room, it's still somewhat fair. Sure, maybe you don't have bombs on you at that time - or some other means to deal with the room, like a card to escape or so much damage that the enemies die quickly and the doors open before Esau gets his unavoidable hit in. And if he does get that hit in, you're not dead - you can now move with flying which opens up the entire room to avoid damage from that point on. Just trying to add a bit of a different perspective. (not that I haven't had plenty of runs that ended up with quitting in frustration after dying in an annoying way)
I can't say I've been that salty during this expansion seeing as a lot of items make 3.5 default damage bearable.
I also barely played Afterbirth/Afterbirth+ so there's that.
