Cannot unlock tainted characters

I've done two runs that made it to home, the first one I tried using the red key, did not work. So I thought maybe I had to beat the beast first, but I did another run, got a cracked key, and still no outline appears on the wall. I did this with Isaac and have gotten all the endings with him.

Was there any crossed cup near consumables?

Did you have debug console enabled?

Did you check steam cloud if it has any issues?

Did you used seeded run by typing it before starting the game?

List of things that prevent all kind of progress:
- Seeds (except a few special ones)
- Challenges (except for their reward obviously).
- Daily Runs.
- Reruns and Victory Laps (except for a few specific unlocks).
- (AB+) Any active mod from the mod menu before Mom is killed once on that save (no matter what they do, other saves are irrelevant).
- (Rep) Enabling the debug console in the config files.
- Paranoid antivirus programs (or missing rights) preventing the game from creating/editing its save file.

I'm positive I'm checking the right spot, and I'm positive that achievements were on, else there would be a no achievements symbol. I think it may be some kind of bug.

were you not able to use the red key ? did you try using it where the door should be ?

Wasn't able to use the cracked or red key. My first run I tried the red key on every tile of the house, second run I watched a youtube video on where it should be, but the outline still wasn't there.

Just did another run. Cracked key in hand, still no door outline. PS: Using the blue hourglass caused the UI to move to the top-right, I don't know why. This is getting to be really frustrating as this is the 3rd time I've done this with the only intent being unlocking the tainted character

It's right before mom's room, left side. You will have look really close for outline.

And by the looks of it the game thinks you're in co-op without a 2nd player.
If it works the same as it did for me, dying should respawn you as co-op ghost baby, giving you a free win.

If it works the same as it did for me, dying should respawn you as co-op ghost baby, giving you a free win.

Oh, damn. Didn't notice it. But from experience, only player 1 will get tainted character, even if he is a ghost baby.

loool wrong corridor OP. You must have walked past the corridor with the red outline to fight Dogma (go to moms bed)... How did you miss it?

check the left corridor instead, it should be there

Yeah, biggest facepalm I've had in a while. I can't believe I also missed the outline the other 2 times. Sorry for the waste of time lol.
