Yes

Pros:
Can pick up two items in pick one rooms such as boss rush or alt path item rooms
Double bombs for the cost of one, great boss killer and secret room value
Double actives, trinkets and pills/cards
Still not as bad as Tainted Jacob

Cons:
Frequent nearly or entirely unavoidable damage on bullet hell fights
Frustration rising
Requires a big brain
None of the pros matter because they're so annoying to play

Cons: Jacob and Esau
That's already saying enough.

Pros: They're not T-Lost. The gimmick is fun enough. For sure more fun than the entire gimmick being a glass cannon that requires lots luck to work properly.

Cons: The hugely higher number of unavoidable damage scenarios, that comes from juggling 2 hitboxes. Especially later in the game, they require good RNG more than most other characters.

You know what'd be a fun unlockable upgrade for them? "Jacob&Esau now have Duality! Sort of..." - a special kind of Duality, where both Angel and Devil Rooms spawn at 100%, but if the overall chance is lower, the % for one room shifts towards the other, depending on which of the 2 characters got hit last.

Picking up double items only matters in angel rooms or if you pick up options. Because of the way they're played, you always stack the most useful upgrades on one character, meaning the other item is only relevant if it's in the absolute 1% of utter run winning treasures. Alt route double rooms barely register here because the blind option was always just a 'if the visible option sucks' fallback. There's no strategic or tactical benefit to blindly handing off a crap item you already don't care about.

That leaves exactly two pros: Double actives and Double bombs.

With the major con: Every aspect of the basic gameplay is worse. Seriously It's like blowing a hole in someone's ceiling with dynamite and telling them that the pro is that they can see the night's sky.

So far all I've manged to do with Jacob + Esau is die to both Satan and Isaac.

Pro: play this character with your best bud and have the bromance of the century over flies, poop, and dead babies.

Yeah, I suspected as much. After all, Bethany's were pretty good.

So I've been playing these characters lately (only have 2 unlocks left). Strategy that's been working for me currently is to either get a size-up on Jacob or size-down on Esau (this is better because of decreased hitbox), and basically hide Esau under Jacob, then get good protection for Jacob (Mantle is great or just a way to generate health). This way I guarantee 90% of the hits go to Jacob. Of course, still need to keep track on Esau not getting stuck against a rock or a pit, but so far it's working. I don't enjoy my time with them, though. But that's another story.

Double items are a major strength. I went alt paths as J&E almost exclusively.
Double bombing is immensely beneficial on early floors.
They are so good I completed everything as them first.

If J&E starts with There is Options and There is More Options would be a great character to play, not the best but somewhat enjoyable.

Welp, guess i'll stuck playing this horrible character a while
