wheni go to controller config, it shows 3 devices
keyboard
bluetooth LE XIN
Xinput controller
under xinput controller, it shows the button configs and i can set them up, but it seems to be setting it up for "player 2"
under "bluetooth LE XIN" i was able to setup controls, but there are no tooltips so i don't know what control is which.
"bluetooth le xin" seems to be the player 1 controls, because i set them and now the controller is responding, but now it's inputting it twice.
it's treating it as if I have the 1 controller mapped to both player 1 AND 2!
when i move the stick to the right, it moves through the menu twice.
pressing "start (the 3 horizontal lines button on xbox controller" still brings up player 2 and tries to add player 2 to my run.
I tried disabling player 2 controls but it won't let me. it won't let me back out of the config unless i configure the controls.
furthermore, once i start the run, it disables keyboard controls , so i have no choice but to use alt+F4 to force quit.
I don't know why it's not recognizing this new gamepad.
I bought the controller new, it says "xbox" and "microsoft" on the packaging, but it is sort of weird that the packaging just says "xbox" and not "xbox one" or "xbox 360".
it also says "made in china", which might be why the game is calling it "Le Xin", which sounds chinese.
do i have a counterfeit knockoff Xbox controller? i just paid $60 for it from best buy. . .
before reading further, please be reassured, that i will try what you just suggested.
what is below is my attempt to speculate about what is happening.
my "old" controller is an "Xbox One" controller, that came with a wire and had bluetooth capability. I still have that one and was using it wirelessly through bluetooth and it worked great.
that one is the one that Isaac config is calling "Xinput".
apparently, this new one on the market is just called "xbox wireless controller", my computer calls it that but the isaac game config calls it "Li Xin bluetooth device"
I dunno if I got a fake controller , apparently, this controller is what's now on the market. i see walmart selling them. gamestop is selling them. best buy is selling them. I got mine at best buy, in person at an actual location, not off the internet.
for some reason, this game does not recognize it as an xbox controller and thinks it's a generic chinese controller.
I tried it on another game " labyrinth of refrain" and when i went in there, that game also did not recognize my new xbox controller as an xbox controller. it made me reconfigure the controls, but then when it got to the part to configure the right thumbstick, the thumbstick didn't respond, which is weird because is DOES respond in "the binding of isaac".
I am able to play labyrinth of refrain with the new controller, but since it doesn't recognize the controller as an xbox controller, it wants to assign playstation 4 button tooltips instead, and it swapped the positions of the A and B buttons which is really throwing me off my game,
but i digressed.
apparently, it is not the fault of this game.
the reason i think the player 2 issue is happening is because the xinput xontrols are placed below the le xin controls, so the game is using the le xin configuration for player 1 and the xinput configuration for player 2.
like I said at the top of this post, i'll try what you suggested.
I just wasted 45 minutes playing a run through to kill corpse mom as EVe only to discover that i already got that achievment and i'm still missing the one to kill dogma and the beast and should have went that way instead
I was thinking maybe the old profile was interfering with the new somehow like you mentioned. I don't know why that would be but I don't know why my issue would happen either. I set up a config for a game that lacked controller support and from that point on it was having issues in all games. So I looked up how to delete the controller configs and that fixed the issues.
Hopefully it stays fixed for you.
my old one was also an Asus and i have been gaming on that one for 6 years. i 10 million percented this game (pre-repentance) on that old Asus laptop, but apparently, this new Asus laptop has a plethora of "new" features that the old one didn't have, like "Armoury Crate" , some console app that controls lighting settings which i'm still trying to figure out.
there's something call "Aura sync" which also seesm to have something to do with colors and lighting while gaming(?)
and armoury crate has a video game marketplace, which pretty much basically, sells Steam keys, but they have different prices than here on steam, there are 80% deals there for games that are full price right now through the steam marketplace.
I'm not shilling for Asus, just that i've been using Asus laptop for 6 years and it served me well, so naturally, when i had to get a new laptop, i went with Asus again.
i still haven't figured out what "Aura Sync" does. the asus website just says vague stuff like it uses lighting to enhance your gameplay or something to that extent.
I fired up my copy of The Outer Worlds which i bought a while ago and my old Asus could barely handle it at the lowest settings it was running at 40 fps and after an hour on my old laptop it crashed due to overheating. but i tried it on my new laptop and it seems to be working good.
on this new rig, i had it running at the highest settings and it was running great, but after an hour, my cooling fan started to get really loud and i opened armoury crate and it said my temp was 85 and internet sources say it's not good if it's over 80 so i freaked and quit the game.
I fired it up again later, lowered the settings to medium and capped the framerate at 60 and the game is running great at 60 fps and the temp is running between 60-65 and i only talk about this because i'm using armoury crate to monitor the temperature while playing that game. i'm sure there are much more demanding games out there, but that's the most demanding game that I own,.
this computer seems much better than the old one. I did have to learn new things.
i was getting repeated crashes on some games and discovered it was a problem with microsofft visual C++ redistributable and that i needed to uninstall all of them and reinstall them and apparantly, even though this laptop is "new" "2nd QT '21, new" for some reason it had the 2017 version of the visual C+ redist instead of the 2019 version. when i reinstalled it, the crashes stopped. . .for now.
So the solution for me. https://youtu.be/o6LB9oLFHV4?t=199
Ignore the part where he says it wont work. This always works for me.
PS I did try toggling the controllers in steam like you did but that just made it work for a bit then the controller would stop responding again later. My best guess is steam randomly decides the old controller is player one, even though it's not connected, so I have to manually delete the old device so it stops thinking the old controller is still attached. It's just weird because the disconnects happen in another game that's single player as well. You'd think Steam would be better at detecting what controller is attached.
I bought mine directly from Microsoft's site. I don't think you had a fake.
My ♥♥♥♥♥♥ workaround is get to where you can walk around(start a run) menu, choose controller, then hit a controller key.
Your controller is now playing instead of keyboard.
for the record, that controller worked great on everything else i played. it was only this game that had problems. That controller is also done for, it had a good run, for 2 years, i wore out the shoulder button and bought a new one off amazon, from the official xbox store. . for less money than best buy was charging. . and that one is working fine , but then i haven't tried it on this game.
my suspicion is that when i posted this, the controller was too "new" and windows hadn't caught up with the updates yet.
binding of isaac rebirth -> properties -> controller -> Enable Steam Input
