Isaac's suicide
Hey guys, I was curious about a variety of opinions on this topic

Do you think Isaac wanted to kill himself or he felt obliged to do so because of the way he viewed himself/he thought others did etc

How much time do you think it took him to suffocate to death?

Do you think he felt relieved as it was happening or horrified?

Do you think he'll go to Heaven after Purgatory, and how long this whole thing will last?

And do you think his mother eventually got over it or no, it's interesting to think what she could've possibly done with herself as well

ty and take care of yourselves

He is five. I dont think he would know that if he hid in the Chest he'd suffocate to death.

And to me it is pretty clear that he went in there to hide because he felt guilty/scared after his mom fell unconscious because a Bible fell on her head. He probably didn't like his life, but was not exactly trying to kill himself either. It is just normal kid behaviour to hide if you are under stress of some kind.

Probably saw how bad repentance was gonna be and decided to end it all
(legal disclaimer: this is a joke)
No, most of the endings indicate he was just going into the chest to cry or hide from his mum. The stuff he draws makes it seem like he blamed himself for his parents divorce tho

I think you last 8 minutes without oxygen(?) but he might've gone on longer seeing as he's a kid

Like I said before, he was probably just sad. He's too young to realise that locking himself in the chest could cause him to suffocate.

I guess that depends on what ending you believe. I think the mega satan ending is supposed to indicate he was embracing satan?

Mom would've gone to jail for neglect, no way she got over it :mgcube:
His mom just made him want to cope seethe seethe cope. Then he went to chest. RIP Isaac :dip:

While it's unlikely, I do think it's possible his death in the chest was suicide. Young kids don't fully understand death, but suicidal feelings can still appear even at such a young age, and there's a lot of evidence that Isaac has experienced them, between the constant imagery of things being hanged, including Isaac himself, the fact that It Lives! represents Isaac wishing he wasn't born, etc. As for how he'd know the chest would suffocate him...I dunno, he's pretty smart and knowledgeable for his age. He knows a lot of really weird illnesses and medical stuff he probably shouldn't, for example.

Could also have been an accident or him just trying to hide and escape into his imagination too. I'm pretty sure the ambiguity on how intentional his death was on purpose.

That never happened though, the whole scenario of Isaac's mom trying to sacrifice him to God that ends with the bible falling on her is just a story Isaac wrote and drew. Even at the end of the epilogue we see Isaac placing the last picture on his wall just before his Mom opens the door, so if she was actually trying to sacrifice him he'd be dead by her instead of suffocating in his chest. There'd be no time or way for him to hide inside of said chest in his room when she's in there too.
