The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Why is fighting Dogma as the lost just asking for instant death.
Is anyone else struggling with Dogma's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ brimstone as the Lost? Like I've tried the slow movements, he just spawns his beam inside of me and I die instantly, I had 9 lives and I got shredded repeatedly in phase 1 for all one of my lives where I still lost my holy mantle phase 1 and died anyway. What am I supposed to do? It feels like rng if he fires it around me or inside of me -_- And as the Lost INSIDE OF ME is sentencing me to death. Getting on my nerves since I have spent several hours for days trying to beat Dogma as Lost and it's beginning to get frustrating.

If you stand on the diagonals, Dogma shouldn't be able to snipe you

^^this. Dogma only fires his brimstone laser up, down, left, or right and then it begins to bend towards you. Moving close to another cardinal direction will shift the beam to fire from that side and then it has to re-bend, so just hide in the diagonals when he goes to fire his brimstone laser

He makes a special sound when he charges his brimstone attack so its actually heavily telegraphed

It's not enough to stand on the diagonals, because homing. You have to dodge in the diagonals, then immediately dodge the other way before he fires the second beam.
I agree that attack is total BS, but part of the problem is that the invincibility frames on the Holy Mantle have been halved, which is also BS.
Really, the entire Dogma / Beast fight is BS when there are characters with little to no health. I only beat that fight with Lost because of Gnawed Leaf, but it took 2 HOURS because I only had 1 crappy familiar.
And then there's Tainted Lost who can't have the Mantle or the Gnawed Leaf or 9 Lives or Orbitals or....
BS. The BS is everywhere in Repentance.

I guess part of my issue then is I play isaac with music or a video in the background and the game muted, idk the sound and it doesn't really help with how sudden the beam feels anyway to me.

I'll try to stay in the diagonals next time then, it's just tough when he forces me to change sides and it's like "Well, have fun instantly dying cause you walked across" ya know?

Atleast there's SOMETHING I can do to make it through. The one time I've made it to the horsemen in all my runs so far I had 9 lives and lost all of them to the horsemen cause it feels insanely hard to dodge them as the lost...especially the flies and the scythes x-x

Wait until you play as T. Lost, I never was so stressed like the day I somehow managed to beat dogma and beast as T. Lost. The fear of getting one shoted by unfair attacks is huge.

You shouldn't get instagibbed by the laser in any case. You have to dodge it slowly, only moving as much as you need to

First time i did get to dogma, it was with lost and 9 lives - it took 4 lives to understand that laser. Maybe you should try another character to learn the tactics, something more friendly

I've been on a Lost journey from no hard marks for an incredibly large chunk of my play time so far trying to unlock Godhead, and I've been trying to beat Dogma for maybe 2 weeks with 3 hours a night dumped in? It's always fun getting a strong run and dying to an unfair room before I even get there though. Several times a night...I think I know the moves and I just hate dealing with them.

That's an interesting take because usually I notice Dogma and The Beast beinfg the one who instantly die
how the tables have turned, huh?
