This would be very bad if it's true as I played this game over 100 hours on linux before Repentance.

Workaround to get it work:

1. Right click on Isaac Rebirth in your library
2. Properties
3. Compatibility
4. Set x on Force Steam to use compatibility
5. Try a Proton Version from the drop down menu. 10.0-5 is working for me (Ubuntu 18.04)

Afterwards its working like a charm

It does not. It crashes when facing some bosses and the main reason I bought rependance, the true coop doesnt work.

It appears to run fine in Proton at first. However, after playing for 15 hours I'm now at a spot where the game consistently crashes as soon as I hit a specific boss with one of my tears.

Me too, it's the boss moving diagonally and requiring bombs to unshell.
I wish there was a mod removing that boss, for linux :3

I hope they make a Linux version

They stated that they will not be supporting Linux. It's not coming.

It works perfectly fine with steam play under linux. Wouldn't really say it needs an official linux port like most games nowadays. It's a lot more work to keep a linux port alive since it requires the devs to make sure it works with up to date dependencies.

It's a lot of work to get Linux ported games that got released 4-7 years ago working on modern distributions while running Windows version through proton works mostly flawlessly on most titles.

i've been playing repentance through proton using 5.9 glorious eggroll, and it has been extremely stable for me on xubuntu 19.10.

What a ♥♥♥♥ move, dropping support in DLC.

All the "if we get money" schemes... Great way to be unhappy with Linux sales. Can't even count the games that released very late on Linux that lost not only money (cause if I'm buying a year+ old game that's not hyped anymore, I'm getting it on sale or not getting it at all, cause I've watched lets plays instead) but also more money (if it's out of hype and none of my friends play it anymore, I'm way less likely to spend on DLCs, IAP etc.).

This... Who in their right mind will buy this for linux/steam deck if it ever releases, just to go through the same uncertainty / lateness / lack of support next time around.

It works on linux with proton. At least I played 200h yet and everything worked fine

you know that valve's plan for the steam deck is to focus on proton and not native ports, right?

note that in my experience once all the core problems with a given game under proton are solved, they generally tend to run better than native ports, and for many games i've intentionally been switching to proton from the native ports because the native ports run slower, are missing features, or exhibit bugs unique to the linux version.
