Why do I need to beat Hush 3 times to get to the new content!?

I stopped playing a bit before afterbirth plus, and didn't pick it up since I heard the new content wasn't very fun. Now it looks like i have to grind that out anyway, for god knows how long, until i finally can get to the content I actually wanted and spent close to 20$ on.

I'm a bit upset. Especially since the game has been made significantly harder now, making my grind that much longer.

I mean you have to beat Mom a few times to unlock Womb and the boss then beat Heart a few times as well to unlock more levels, etc. Same here, Gotta progress to unlock the new floors that are much harder than the rest.

it's not like none of the content is available if you didn't beat hush, you still get lots of new items, synergies, challenge, characters, in the meantime

i was in the same situation as you, i never even bothered with hush in 200 hours of afterbirth, and ab+.
What i did, i disabled Repentance from the dlc and went back to ABP+, i killed Hush 3 times for the first time ever today, it took me one day of practice to reach the blue womb in time and be able to beat hush.
I did it with Isaac, then Lilith and Azazel for their cool unlocks.
I always restarted the 1st floor as many times as needed until i got i really good item. Focus on all defense and protection orbitals.
Now i just launched Repentance and the new content was there.

The alt floors are very difficult, so consider beating Hush 3 times as a skill check of sorts before you can access them. It's also not much different from unlocking other routes in the game.

Content in Repentance is meant to be late-game.

Wait, the alt-floors only unlock after beating Hush 3 times? That's pretty random as a requirement since the Downpour Floors and the Mines aren't exactly the Cathedral levels of difficult for new players.
