Why is Ashpit and Mausoleum/Gehenna such horrible, horrible floors?
Every room in those floors result in night unavoidable damage unless you specifically have insane speed. Projectile blocking items, like Halo of Flies, mean absolutely nothing because it's basically all contact damage.
Words cannot express how disappointed I am with this DLC, I had high hopes when I saw the Antibirth devs were involved, yet somehow getting them on board ruined any semblance of fun I've ever had in this game. Ridiculous, hopefully I can get a refund.

I mean if you go in these floors with a terrible build then yeah you will have a bad time. But otherwise they're fine. The floors are much harder and aren't meant to be entered if you cannot deal with the enemies well enough.

I personally love Ashpit the most.

Lower the difficulty to Normal. Apparently they increased the shot speeds in hard mode for some enemies and it wasn’t properly balanced. I would expect a patch later.

I have been able to win runs fairly consistently in Normal, even with weak builds.

God forbid you try and see the new content. (Which you have to enter in the basement to actually access!) I don't know about you, but I don't usually enter Caves 1 with both brimstone and holy mantle and I'm not partial to holding R until I get a good starting item. It's not a matter of "Just don't go in there", you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ have to if you want to see ANYTHING that the DLC added.

I don't see a problem with mausoleum, but mines... well, not really, except maybe couple of bosses.
Considering you complain now, when it's not really true, wait until you get to final bosses. There it feels like anything below 1,5 is instant death.

Sounds like you need to play better then. These areas are accessible on 2 floors so you have 2 floors everytime to get items to hopefully be strong enough to get there. Also you don't want to R until you get something decent? That's fine, but then don't complain about the floors being horrible if you enter them with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ build then wonder why you're having such a hard time.

I know about the later bosses, but I've lost runs to these floors numerous times because of the ridiculous enemies and horrible patterns for almost everything in these floors. After the 20th time it gets tedious as hell.

Having a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ build in terms of health pool or survival is the only way to survive past mines 1, it's not about being good when enemies have nonsensical movement/bullet patterns that are practically impossible to avoid taking damage with if your speed is anything short of supersonic. ♥♥♥♥ off with your 'play better' mantra ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, it's bad design.

Are you sure you talk about mines/ashpit?
There, most enemies have pretty clear patterns. The only ones that sometimes give trouble are those mini skeleton pins, because they appear without warning, unlike minipins. Might be a bug, though, like randomly clipping lump.

You don't even give one example of enemy in mines that gives you trouble. That in itself shows how pointless this topic is and nothing more than venting.

It's ashpit specifically for this, mines are fine. Those skulls that bounce around the room, appear from nowhere and throw bones at you, those weird ghost enemies that have no distinguishable pattern to their movements, etc

Must explain why I and many others can clear those floors without much issues and without taking constant damage? Want to do them with an average build? Cool then learn the enemy patterns. Some room setups are stupid yeah, but it's not an issue that suddenly appeared with Repentance.

You're right in that it's not an issue that appeared with Repentance, but Repentance didn't do any favours whatsoever in the slightest, in fact they made it almost ten times worse with enemies that limit your movement options. With early Isaac DLC's and even the base game, the enemies had simple to learn, hard to master movement and bullet patterns. They took this in repentance and made it frustrating to learn, distinguish and master.
It isn't a matter of simply getting good when you have a room full of these enemies that don't have distinguishable movement patterns or are way too bloody fast. it's just tedious and frustrating to restart over and over to something that you couldn't of prevented besides having a streak of pure luck for a single run.

While I'll agree that BoI needed a difficulty increase, this is way, way too much. In increasing difficulty they actively destroyed most of what made the game fun, without even touching the item nerfs.

Ghosts? You mean those that you can see from far away appearing and slowly coming for you? They're not that bad.
I hate Pile and shell more. Pile for the fact he's insanely fast and you have barely any time to react and shell for being fast and throwing bombs is really not that fun, especially when you get constantly bombarded.

No the ones with the cloaks, I have no idea what they're called. Move like Bloopers from Super Mario but worse.

the alt paths defiantly are harder than the normal path and for sure it does feel like the alts of the alt path are even harder at least to me. i've had runs were i just couldn't keep up with the new enemies. I hope eventually it gets scaled down. they have shown they are listening to people with the changes to shops and tinted rocks from what they were day 1 repentance.
