Having a super hard time with Mother, any tips?

I beated Delirium in Hardmode with Lost and Keeper so it's not even a question of being newbie (or maybe it is), I never played Antibirth so I'm having quite an hard time beating the Mother, I just lost a run where I had brimstone, book of shadows to get a nice shield, I also had flight and lil' brimstone so it was like a double Brimstone, did the whole first phase with no damage and the second phase with the book active, yet with 17 DAMAGE, I still didn't manage to kill her and she even massacrated me because I didn't understand her attack pattern...

Please tell me how to do it I'm getting too much frustrated and you are forced to beat her if you want to continue the DLC, it's already been 4 days and still no luck.

Okay before repentance I had 402/404 achievements (the marathon and 1000000% not included) and I have to say that this boss is pretty easy or pretty hard it doesn't depend on the dmg and tears but what moveset she will use. I learned her moveset by having dead cat 2 times and dying over and over. 2nd phase is a lot easier if you surwive the first one with 2 hearts you should be fine. I beated her after repentance was on steam for 2 days and the beast after 4. Just choose Isaac you will have a lot better chances to get something good with his d6. good luck mate

Apart from the wiggly worm attack, most of her patterns in the second phase are easy enough to read/dodge (you have to be quick though). Avoid the lightbeams. The radiating lightbeams spawn projectiles at the edge of the screen and not from the boss itself. When she leaves the screen, there is a quick visual cue which side she'll charge from first. She'll always charge the other side immediatly afterwards, then slam the center of the screen so dodge accordingle.

killed her on 2nd attempt in normal mode with knife+brimstone. lost about 4-5 hearts (tnx to polaroid).

Honestly, just like any other difficult boss in this game (Mega Satan for example) you just have to take time to learn the moves and how to avoid them. It is possible to defeat Mother without taking any damage if you move quick enough and know how to dodge her attacks. Yes, you may have to sacrifice a run or two to understand her moveset, but when you do then you'll be so much better at it. Alternatively, you could always watch someone fight her on Youtube to understand the moveset or look for guides to understand how to dodge her moves and avoid sacrificing runs to learn her moves but that's up to you.

Welp thanks guys, I didn't understood that light beam attack but now I think it's more clear, I just need to get there again with some HP, sucks you have to give away some for the masoleum

Eh, as far as bosses go she's decenty fair. If you could beat Delirium, you can definitely beat her too. I think I have her 2nd phase figured out mostly (when she sucks in air, circle around, once she shoot the projectile just try to dodge it, as well as the tears that come out of it after it hits a wall. Laser beams are easy. Rush attack is quick but just remember about it if she goes off screen, and don't stay in the middle once it ends)
Phase 1 I usually killed fast enough by using invinciblity or something, it's probably harder due to less room. I reckon there are still some methods for consistent dodging though like with Phase 2.

I am by no means an expert in any way, but I did it with lots of HP + Cancer Zodiac. Not taking full heart damage makes it a lot easier. My damage and fire rate was pretty average too.
