Maw of The Void Nerfed?

Seems like I can only get red hearts to generate with Maw of The Void, no more black hearts. I just gave away my red hearts to buy Maw of The Void, why would I want red hearts?

maw of the void doesn't generate hearts at all, neither does it give a damage up anymore, all it does is the black brim ring.
half red hearts on kill were probably gimpy if i had to guess

Maybe it has a synergy with other items...? I was getting red heart drops at an insane rate. If that was Gimpy then it's OP as ♥♥♥♥ now lol

Athame healed my red health with a gulp sound. Maw will prolly work the same. "Consume thy enemy" and all that. In line with most changes of Rep.
