Exactly why does it work this way? You fire the missiles with the movement buttons instead of the fire buttons, this causes to blowing yourself up if you are not careful to be walking when leaving a bomb.

I was JUST about to post about this EXACT piece in this item's design, the EXACT same topic. Just lost a run where I grabbed it Basement 1 as Judas because the controls tripped me up. If you're going to give access to both bombs and rockets with the thing, why tie using rockets to MOVEMENT instead of FIRING? It makes no sense to me. I can think of waaay too many times I move while placing a regular bomb, but I can not for the LIFE of me imagine me using a bomb while firing, simply because my tears disrupt my bombs and my bombs disrupt my tears! It makes too much sense to tie it to firing instead of movement. I'd like a patch to change this, it should be a fun item to use but I never seem to get a decent opportunity to actually start blasting things.

In addition to the way the default keyboard controls are configured, it is impossible to move diagonally while firing the missile.

the problem is it's tied to both movement and firing at the same time, so i keep misusing it.
if you're not moving, it places a normal bomb
if you're not moving but firing (or holding a charged shot) it sends a rocket in your firing direction
if you're moving but not firing it sends a rocket in the direction you're moving
if you're moving and firing, firing takes priority

Yeah, I think it would be preferable if the whole "moving but not firing" bit placed a bomb instead of sending a rocket in the direction you're moving. I'm fine with how it's handled otherwise, but that one wrinkle in the design leaves a bad taste.

When you place a bomb Isaac should just hold a rocket above his head and then you would just use fire buttons to release it. This would be the best solution I think. Well, untill you have to place a bomb in a narrow space and don't have much space to distance yourself in a straight line. That might be an issue then, so maybe modify it more by making Issac put a normal bomb down only when holding the put down a bomb button down for a while.

How to fix the item? Simply that the missile does not fire because you are moving
