The path to Mega Satan is not fun

Someone enlighten me please. I've been trying to get every completion mark for as many characters as I can, and the only one I have left for Maggy is for Mega Satan, which I've been deliberately putting off on account of how pointlessly difficult it is to get lucky enough to have not just one, but two angel rooms in one run. I have the wiki page explaining how to make the angel rooms spawn more likely, I'm following it as closely as I can, but I just get screwed by a lack of sacrifice rooms, the donation machines just get stuck, or no beggars spawn for several floors in a row. The fight itself is hard on its own, it doesn't need the arbitrary luck factor to even GET to the fight.

I don't understand how this is supposed to be fun. I wish I could just eliminate the random chance and just get to the fight by progressing normally, like nearly every other boss (Except Delirium which I have similar complaints for).

skip the first devil room. this way you will be guaranteed that your next deal will be an angel one.

then if you get one key piece, you'll get an increased chance for other deals to be angel too

Yeah don't enter the first devil room and then you'll get an angel room in the next floor or the one after (2 floors after is a guaranteed angel room I believe)

I usually get at least 3 angel rooms per run by just skipping the first devil room without going into it and bombing keepers on every floor. If you have a chance to get either a devil or angel room, donating 10 coins to the donation machine raises the odds for angel room too.

Exactly, when I skip devil rooms I can get at least 3 or 4 angel rooms, and I believe there's a lot of ways to raise your chance for angel rooms like killing beggars, sacrifice rooms...

as others said, skip first devil room, if you come across items like dad's key or cracked orb get them, if you do get cracked orb, just damage yourself on the starting room of dark room/chest until cracked orb opens the mega satan door, oh and sharp key also opens the mega satan door

Angels rooms are easy. What you should do?

1- Don't enter any devil rooms. Even if you just entered and not made any trade and leave, that still counts and on the next floor your chance of spawning of an aAngel room will be drop. Sometimes some red chests teleport you to a devil room, that counts as you enter the devil room too so try not to open any red chest.

2- Don't get hit. If you receive any damage from an enemy or trap and you lose half of a red heart, your chance to get an angel room will drop to minumum. To bypass this try to get blue hearts or bone hearts, when you lose them that doesn't affect the Devil/Angel room spawn chance.

Note: You can lose red hearts to sacrifical rooms, curse rooms and blood donation machines.

3- After you get your first angel room, the next floor's spawn chance of an angel room will drop to minimum. That means probably you will not be able to get your second angel room on that floor. But you can still get it. Blow up the beggars you can find, donate money and if you lucky sacrifice your hearts.

i recently completed all of maggy's marks (ecxept greedier mode because i hate it), a big, big help has come because of sacrifice rooms, they are so easy to abuse on magdalene to gain instant advantages, even at floor 1, but even if you don't find them, you shoul train youself to not take damage at least on the first 2 floors of the game, so that even if you odn't find sol hearts you can get a least a devil deal (to skip in this case) but anyways hevily prioritize soul hearts and other red hearts protection in the early game

As the others said, just skip the first devil deal room and you'll probably be fine. After doing it over and over again, you'll get use to the path to Mega Satan. Personally, the only not fun thing about Mega Satan is only going to him for a chance at Delirium. Especially if you're playing Tainted Lost.

I think MegaSatan path is the easier path to take in Repentance for all the ways to open the door:
-Angel keys not only spawn on Angel rooms, but also sacrifice rooms -and since you go with Maggie, even easier- and angel shops -which will always spawn if you get the angel ladder-.
-Other items that open the door are: Dad Key, Sharp Key, Cracked Orb, Mr. Me, Get out of jail card, and Cain Soul. It might be weird to not get at least one of those during a run if aiming for Mega.

Exactly, I share your opinion on this, MegaSatan path is easier in Repentance. There are more ways to open the door. and for Angel Rooms you can find Eucharist too if you're lucky enough ahah. And if I'm not wrong Book of Virtues guarantees an angel room to spawn in the second floor !

Getting mega satan is too easy if you play Maggie. She gets dozens of heart drops. If you hit 7 hits in a sacrifice room you fight an angel. A couple more and you will get Gabriel and your second key piece. Keep yum heart until you get this and you're golden.
