tear / tears shooting - strange behaviour - possible bug

hello

i noticed some strange behaviour.

first off: im using a mechanical cherry keyboard that has nkey rollover and is plugged in over a ps/2 adapter. so that shouldnt be a problem. also it BEHAVES THE SAME (!) on the gamepad.

so this strange behaviour describes as following:

when i shoot LEFT or RIGHT i am able to "override" that shooting with ANY direction which is kind of very comfortable.

but when i shoot UP or DOWN i am NOT able to "override" that shooting with LEFT or RIGHT only with the opposite direction i am currently shooting. means when i am shotting up, i only can "override" it to down and vice versa.

this is a really strange behaviour that sometimes leads to isaac not shooting while i have a key pressed. this comes when you switch keys pretty fast, and still are shooting to one side.

so this could happen everytime you shoot up or down and wanna change to left or right.

does anyone else have this behaviour and knows how to fix it. is this some sort of "game bug" or is it inteded? its really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ when that happens.

as far as i remember the origianl isaac didnt had that "bug" or "feature" (if it is either of that?!)

this time, i pressed the button to the left side. he didnt looked in the direction and did not shoot.
i still kept the button hold. then like 1 second later he started to look and not shooting, and another second later he started shooting.

so, conclusion: the input is there. the game just doesnt reacts right to it ore something.

this happens pretty often and random.

i also try to play a bit more with the numpad now to see if it happens there too.

this CLEARLY seems to be a bug. i am going nuts that noone else has/noticed this.

and im still VERY upset there is no official reply. this seems to be present in the game since release, and i dont get noone else ever complained about it.

@mooglegirl: what do use to play isaac? keyboard or gamepad?

i just found this in the the sticky thread in this forum:

Keyboard getting stuck randomly
This seems to mostly happen on the Logitech G110 keyboard, but others might be affected, too. Try to disable controller hotplugging.
You can disable gamepad hotplugging by changing "ControllerHotplug=1" to "ControllerHotplug=0" in the Options.ini file, which is located in your save data folder. Look at the top of this page for instructions on how to locate the save data folder on your PC.

omfg .... this might be it !! i did that now and hopefully that fixed it !!

the override problem is still something i think that should need a fix too though ...

EDIT: THIS DID NOT FIX IT :( AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

EDIT2: NOW IT EVEN HAPPENS WHILE I AM SHOOTING: WTF IS THIS? its making me really nuts. i would really like to enjoy this game, but this kills me. i have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up countless runs cause of this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cause its so damn irritating.

This sounds like some kind of input lag. Maybe some driver issues? Maybe your PC is too slow/ too busy doing other stuff in the background?

The devs never post here, also it quite clearly is a problem only you seem to be having, so of course no one else complained about it.

the funny is, i had this on another system too (with a different hardware setup AND keyboard). i HAVE NO input problems OR performance problems with ANY OTHER GAME. i also can MOVE FREELY WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM while this happens!!

also the game does not lag ore something similair.

also ... why only the LEFT side? i even tried cleaning the button at my keyboard. but when i does have it with another keyboard on a different system this cant be?!

also.... i found this "keyboard getting stuck randomly" stuff ... so THERE IS INDEED some sort of problem !!! the fix just doesnt work for me ....

also: i am really ready to record this problem with a onscreenkeyboard that shows input.

i tried NOHBOARD and ApVkp !! But both doesnt work that good ...

when isaac runs in fullscreen it doesnt show the input anymore (even though apvkp is always on top, nohboard doesnt even have that feature), and somehow also "wasd" doesnt get captured then .... when i highlight the apvkp screen it captures wasd too ... oO

edit2: i also found streamkb that always shows wasd, but same with the always on top problem


EDIT3: I JUST DISABLED VSYNC AND THE GAME RUNS MUCH MUCH SMOOTHR NOW (even thought it has SLIGHT SLIGHT tearing now, but i just give a ♥♥♥♥).

EDIT4: ahh just had it it simlair with vsync off too ... this is making me so nuts....

sorry for my tripple posts but i have to report something again:

i tried cardinal quest 2, which you can also play with arrow keys. i have like 2-3 hours playtime in it and NEVER encountered any similair problem.

i am just playing serious sam2 which you can look at around with the arrow keys and tried this for like over 5 mins: NO input probelms whatsoever. NO overriding problem whatsoever.

this is CLEARLY a problem with the game.

@mooglegirl: what do use to play isaac? keyboard or gamepad?

I use keyboard, but I have my controls switched so arrow keys are movement and WASD is shooting. Maybe that's relevant somehow?

I'm confused, can't you just run it in windowed instead?

i am not sure if thats relevant ... i would try it too, but i guess that would make me crazy :P i just wanted to know, to find out if you have no problem with a similair setup ...

i could run in windowed mode, but i would prefer playing in fullscreen mode ... it seems binding of isaac rebirth is on HIGH priority regarding the "on top" thing ... it puts itself on top of EVERYTHING (even the apps that are always on top) ... i dont know how to capture the screen then too ... i would use fraps or shadowplay (i didnt tried both in ages) and fraps captures the GAME not the desktop ... :/


EDIT: i just checked the key and put some WD40 in it (similair to contact spray and especially good for mechanics) ... it seems to be more responsive now ... but i am not sure .. i will try and report back !!
