Tips on how to properly use Guppy's Hairball?

I'm having a little bit of trouble with the 'Cat Got Your Tongue' challenge, and I've found that running around in a circle to swing the ball around Isaac works to an extent, but I feel like there's more ways to attack with it besides what I've mentioned.

you can walk very slowly backwards and let small enemies get hit. otherwise doing a circle or trying to slingshot it at enemeies is the best way

If you can get a speed up pill slingshoting is a very easy way to use it. I find it works better for me than swinging it anyway
