Killed by a clock?

I was doing the speed challenge and suddenly I started getting hurt in empty rooms at random. It started after I beat mom and suddenly I was getting hurt while standing still in the boss room even though there were no enemies in the room and the game was waiting for me to enter the womb. When I died the game showed that a clock killed me. Glitch?

You have to beat that challenge in 16 minutes. If the time goes over 16 minutes you start taking damage

my tip for you get a REALLY strong starting item like moms knife and just take treasure rooms if they're on your way. don't waste time with unnescissary searching.

A lot of people also keep forgetting that you don't have to fight mobs, you can just bomb the exits of rooms open as well.
