The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Do I buy this on PC or Switch?
I'm at a huge debate with myself right now on wether to buy the Afterbirth+ DLC for Steam or on the Switch.

If I buy it on Steam I get workshop access, which I don't get on the Switch. I loved the hell out of the Antibirth mod, so I'm excited to see what the workshop can offer. Also I keep my Real Platnium God status from grinding the hell out of Rebirth (335 hours) and can start trying to complete Afterbirth+.

If I buy it on Switch, I'll be starting from COMPLETE scratch and having to deal with the new Afterbirth DLC+, which sucks but atleast I'll be able to experience what the game was like at the start again (I long forgotten how that feels like). I'll also finally have an enjoyable solo game for my Switch (all I got is Mario Party, Aces, and Kart. lol) and will also be the perfect portable game for me.

Please help. Idk what to buy it on (when it goes on sale).
Do I get Afterbirth DLCs for $19 on Steam?
Should I pay $20 instead to get the entire Afterbirth package on Switch? (These are sale prices I seen)
I only want to purchase it for 1 of them because playing it on 2 different accounts sounds tedious. 1 will most likely be left in the dust.
Unless the dev/creators can give me a big discount and get them on both PC and Switch for $20 :dropheart:

Disclaimer: PC player here, never played this game on any console.

I'd say get it on PC.
First, the PC version has, as you mentioned it, mod support. It isn't required to enjoy AB+, but it's definitely a plus.
Second, the PC version is (currently) more up-to-date. Until now, updates of the PC version were always released months before the console ones. For instance, console versions still don't have the latest booster packs (although they're somewhat expected before the end of the year, no confirmation yet).

Careful with the price. AB+ is not a free update of AB, it must be bought too. To check precisely which price you would have to pay, check the Rebirth Complete Bundle, it's the only way to buy AB+ on PC (to prevent people from getting it without its requirement, Afterbirth). Steam won't charge you for already owned things (Rebirth).

Just my opinion.
I'd say both, because playing successful PC games lying in your bed is only possible with the Nintendo Switch, have 5min ? take console play it without the tedious effort of powering on an overpowered system to play that small game.

Technically I'm not far into the game, might be wrong but as far I have checked it is the exact same copy from the PC version. No downgrade or thing like that as it is a really small games not performance demanding.

It is not really a game you require to mod to enjoy anyway as every new game is a new experience

It is a bit more difficult than the PC version because analog sticks adds a little layer of complexity compared to the keyboard where you have every command under the fingers. (you can play without analog stick too)

and about the updates

I don't think no and I think it is safe to say the PC version does not receive any more updates as the game is finished and steamdb numbers

The game is on sale on NS, 50% off, top of the downloaded list.

For me no matter you have it on PC or not, you must own it too on NS.

Ps: In case you wonder, this is Afterbirth+ sold on NS, so the complete version with all dlc

No. As Naz says above (and you even quote in your post), the Switch version is "worse" than the PC version since it lacks the latest Booster packs. I'm sure it will come to the Switch at some point but for now it's not there.

No. A new upcoming DLC has already been anounced.

So get the PC version unless you want to have it on a portable system, then get it on the Switch.
