Not responding on launch

I can hear the intro but the game instanly goes to not responding with only the sound going on. I preinstalled the game and never played with mods.

What might be the problem?

Same thing is happening to me. Tried re-installing it and everything, but I can't get past the black screen. The game simply says it's not responding. I've gone so far as to delete my options file with the hopes that would resolve it, and that didn't do a thing.

Update: Tried to edit the Options.ini file, and set various visual options to a different value. I managed to get no where, with nothing seeming to resolve the issue. I also went so far as to remove my Saves from Isaac thinking it was trying to load a corrupt save and failing, but that didn't resolve it either.

Is there a possibility if you could specify what file to make windows 8 compatible, and how to properly do it. I tried it with the executable but i dint work.

That's all I had to do was make the .exe file - isaac-ng.exe - Windows 8 Compatible and giving it Admin Privilages. The basic steps are:

1) Find the .exe file
2) Right click the .exe and select properties
3) Left click Compatibility tab at the top of the dialog
4) Check the box which says "Run this program in compability mode for"
5) Select Windows 8
6) Check the box that says "Run this program as an Administrator"
7) Click Apply

I too am runing Windows 10, and that resolved the issue for me. If it doesn't resolve the issue for you, do you run Discord? Apparently Disabling the overlay for that can help as well as per a previous Steam discussion.

whenever I attempt to change the compatibility mode for it check box is grayed and does not allow me to change it is there a fix to this.

Im having the same problem. When i first launched the game imade it to the main menu and i wanted to change my settings so i assumed ESC was what i should press but when i did it closed the game and now it wont respond.
