Another not super obscure one that I never hear people mention is that slow effects decrease effective enemy range. Hush' s continuum tears don't make it very far when he's slowed.
Anything that involves actual gameplay at least.
Its a way to get double steam sales!
For example, if you use a Temperance card in a Curse room and then re-roll the Blood Bag, the pedestal item it rolls into will come from the Curse Room pool.
- We Need To Go Deeper has a chance to create a crawlspace instead of a trap leading to the next level. It's definitely an item worth keeping on The Lost (who gets free Black Market deals).
- The content inside the Super Secret room isn't random, but based on what kind of floor you're on, so don't waste time searching for them if you know you'll get some useless red hearts (Womb) or a black poop with spikes (Flooded Caves).
In Greed mode you want to visit the Catacombs one, wich contains a Treasure Room item.
(took me more than 1000h before finding out this one).
- If you find 2 Joker Cards, it's actualy a bad idea to use one right on the spot, as the base chances to find a Devil Room on the next floor are calculated right after you defeat the boss of the current floor, not when you're entering the trapdoor.
For example, if you use one of the jokers before fighting the boss, your base chance to find a Devil Room on the next floor will be 33% (as you found one on the current floor).
If you use it after having fought the boss and saw there was no Devil Room, your base chance for the next floor will be calculated as if you had found none on the current floor, and will therefore be 66% or 100% (depending on wether or not you found one on the previous floor)
But that remembered me on something. If you see steam sale anywhere on the floor DON'T pick it up! The chance of finding it by bombing shopkeepers or in shops stays the same until you pick it up
Taking/smelting the Mysterious Paper trinket is a good idea for soul heart runs. It can trigger Polaroid or Negative effects on taking damage. It activates uncommonly, but enough to be useful.
Isaac's Heart has interesting properties with multiple items. Blood Rights, Razor Blade and IV Bag can be spammed infinitely. They don't provide I-Frames but they provide their effects. Breath of Life can provide invulerability without taking damage. Dry Baby can overlay the heart, becoming immune to bullets. Blood banks and demon beggars can be donated to for free. Personally don't recommend the item, but it will end up an easy win if Isaac's Heart is found when carrying such items.
Void + Glowing Hourglass can use the latter's effect without turning into the Hourglass. Farm Eden Tokens or seed Crooked Penny duplications as much as possible.
Metronome can take the effect of D4, D100 or D Infinity replicating those too, rerolling the entire run. Metronome can also activate MissingNo, won't carry over into other floors, but will still reroll the run.
Metronome will kill the Lost instantly when it activates Blood Rights, IV Bag, Razor Blade, regardless of Holy Mantle. It can also activate Kamikaze, Monstro's Tooth, MissingNo, D4, D100 and D Infinity -- disasterous for the Lost with Holy Mantle. Metronome cannot activate Plan C thankfully, but also cannot activate Glowing Hourglass.
Dataminer doesn't have a cap on how much it can reduce a stat. Seems to target tears as much as possible. Avoid this item, it will relentlessly reduce fire-rate to nothing and when given enough time.
Ventricle Razor can prevent taking damage from many sources by providing I-frames from exiting portals. Able to donate to blood banks and demon beggars without losing HP.
Butter Bean has a small chance to turn into Wait What? on pickup. Dropping the item and picking it up again over and over will eventually turn the item into Wait What?.
Meconium's black poop when destroyed has a chance to drop black hearts, contrary to other black poop in the game which don't.
Abaddon will immediately kill Keeper on pickup, as he cannot gain black hearts.
Super Wrath, Pride and Super Pride + Safety Scissors can provide an infinite source of bombs. Taking damage from Greed while holding Humbling Bundle to drop doubled coins can provide a profit of coins, as long as you don't die.
Hush and Ultra Greed's damage resistance don't negate how many damage sources there are. High tear-rate broken runs like having booger tears or Mom's Knife will kill them significantly faster than slow tear-rate high-damage runs like Polyphemus, Dr Fetus or Epic Fetus.
The Midas Touch item will remove 25% of damage resistance on Hush, Ultra Greed and Delirium when frozen.
Delirium itself doesn't have damage resistance, but his transformations do. It still has 10 000 HP though. It's best to target its normal form. It's also the only enemy in the game immune to the effects of Chaos Card.
