What do you mean "blue fires"? Regular bombs work perfectly fine to get rid of them. Same for purple fires by the way, their shots aren't a problem.
Like Nazemec said, most of the time the primary function of bombs is just as another type of key and the detonator doesn't help that function outside of providing extra bombs. And since there are *plenty* of places to use bombs like that, most of the time the majority of your bombs are going to be committed to non-combat scenarios.
Besides, with some practice, you can usually get bombs to hit what you want them to without the detonator. Most enemies get blocked by bombs so it's not too hard to get multiple enemies to stack around a bomb when it goes off. It's more useful against bosses, who usually have patterns and AI that makes it harder/impossible to actively lure them into a bomb, but imo bosses are (mostly) less dangerous than regular rooms anyways and the vast majority aren't worth committing bombs to unless you're specifically going for speed or have had very bad luck with items (or just have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of bombs)
For me, it's not really anything other than a luxury item that's easily replaced. It feels good to use, but isn't actually helpful in most situations.
However if you got any active item besides the butter bean, don't give it up for the detonator.
(Tear detonator is super situational and garbage though)
