Save File Recovery

So, on December 18, 2018 I accidentally deleted my save file (I have since learned to be careful when deleting stuff that I don't know) and wanted to know if anyone out in this community could help me get a file with the stuff I had. If needed I can provide a video scrolling through my unlocked achievements for the game for proof I had the achievements and for any other reasons it may be needed. I haven't played since then, and don't want to restart. I'm posting this in 2019 because I didn't think posting here would help.

You might have a backup save. At least if you have Afterbirth/Afterbirth Plus, according to this:

Pick one (check its date of creation), copy it, replace your current save with the copy (don't forget to rename it properly).

Current saves (the ones the game reads) are located there:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[some number]\250900\remote
(Adapt to wherever you installed Steam.)

I don't know.

Maybe searching for the "Binding of Isaac Afterbirth+" folder would find it? (I'm assuming Mac also has a file/folder search.)



I looked for the answer and didn't find it.
But I saw someone mention this, which I had forgotten about...

If you had already unlocked a lot of Steam achievements and don't have them in your local save file anymore, you can restore them by pressing ALT + F2 (or just F2 for Mac/Linux players) on the Stats menu page.

It will unlock the items, at least.
But unless they fixed this, the items unlocked by defeating a specific end boss with a character will give the item without the character having the clear mark. You'd have to redo that if you want it marked.
