Suddenly all the sound effects are super quiet
I booted the game up after not playing for awhile and for some reason all the sound effects are super quiet, at first I thought they weren't even playing. The only way I can hear them are if I turn the SFX all the way up and the music all the way down in the options and then crank my speakers way up. I have tried reinstalling the game and verifying the cache but nothing is working, I am also not running any mods so I don't think that's the issue. Anyone have a fix?

Maybe they got reduced in the sound manager. Right click on your speakers, open the sound mixer, and check there.

Having the same problem. SFX are there, but at 10 you can barely here, even with music at 1.

.Install the OpenAL libraries from https://www.openal.org/downloads/oalinst.zip

.Go to your game folder by right-clicking on "The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth", then selecting "Properties", "Local Files", "Browse Local Files..."

.Delete or rename OpenAL32.dll

Sorry I'm late to this topic but do I need to put OpenAL into the TBOI files to make it work?

Old, but bumping this as it just happened to me. Bought Afterbirth+ and sound went from fine to messed up. On top of the music being loud and sound effects being super quiet, I'm on WIndows 10 and have 5.1 surround. The music was coming from the front speakers and the sound effects were coming form the rears and the volume was changing all the time before it would 'remember' that the music should be quieter. All was fine with Afterbirth, but A+ broke things.

Fixed after doing the above.
