You don't have to pick it up, after all.
Also, Cursed Eye is a straight DPS down.
I agree. So don't pick it up.
Also, be skillful enough that you don't get hit while charging and you won't get teleported. Difficult, sure. Impossible? No.
Look, I understand where you are coming from but we have these threads all the time. If everything someone doesn't like is removed there will be no game left. The only character will be Azazel and the only item will be Brimstone... both of which will promptly be removed after someone complains that they are too easy.
If you really really can't stand the Cursed Eye you can easily mod it out (or remove the teleport effect) once Afterbirth+ hits.
If you really want to pick it up in a run, just don't get hit while charging, you won't be teleported. Problem is solved! :D
issue: if you get hit while recharging you get teleported
solution : get good enough to choose when to get teleported
it'll help you.. because you are not good with this item doesn't mean the item is garbage
i'm not saying you are bad, what i'm saying is you are bad with this item. Practice makes perfect so you take it and practice or you stop complaining :)
OP never said he was a speed runner.
So never get hit unless you intend to?
That's an absurd suggestion. Even top-tier Isaac players can't always avoid getting hit.
Doesn't mean the item is good, either.
That's incredibly patronizing, and you're not nearly knowledgable enough about Isaac to be talking that way.
Because of the teleport effect + DPS down, Cursed Eye is objectively one of the worst items in the game.
Like others have said, don't pick it up in the early game if you're not sure what your end game synergies will be, but it's actually pretty handy burst damage wise in particular situations.
I have to agree with others that are mentioning the fact that some pickups really need downsides in addition to being interesting, or else the game becomes way too easy.
And yeah, it may seem like an unfun and unfair item to be stuck with, but this is a rogue-like game, which means there is no such thing as "fair" here and everyone has their own idea of fun. :P
