That's an important thing to remind, yes.
The Greed Machine (at the end of Greed mode, Afterbirth only) isn't the same one as the Donation Machine (in shops).
As for an esaier easier way, yes, there's one: mods. But in this case, it would be considered as cheating I guess. As you like.

Well, the Glowing Hourglass trick should still work, but i bet it's getting patched out in the upcoming expansion. Might become easier to fill up the greed machine in Afterbirth+ as well.

Currently at 125 so not really bothered to do it. :) Rubber cement, Crickets body, The Mark, and more tears up items completely destroys greed.
