2. Edmund has stated he's looking into making purely cosmetic mods (like music) still allow achievements.
How did any of you ever play this game without the mods, man?
It's funny how people suddenly can't play a game without something they haven't even had access to for years on end.
But you're right, old mods still work if you manage properly the game files. Only the mod menu (and LUA support) is new, and it's the only thing that prevents progress. Old modding method doesn't.
I know modding has been there for a long time. But before the AB+ update, we called it cheating for those who used it to unlock things.
And now, it'd still be cheating if the workshop mods allowed unlocks.
People should just accept the fact that quite obviously, the Devs don't intend for you (you as in the people, not you specifically) to use mods to get the easy wins.
Either way, my point was to sarcastically comment on the guy who said the game was "ruined" for the rest of them.
The game hasn't been changed in any way, which was my point.
Lol, NP, man. :)
and for the record, I didn't say the game was ruined, that's completely ignoring the context of what I said and latching onto to one word. My point was using mods locks you out of game content, even as small as it is donation machines and acievements are part of the game and it makes it hard to play mods with these constant reminders in the form of that little icon, the lack of donation machines, and of course, the fact you CAN'T MAKE ANY PROGRESS IN THE GAME.
Is it a large amount of content? (apart from that last one, which certainly is) No. Does that change the fact there's no good reason to lock people out of any of it just for using mods? Yes. Mods are there to make a game better, to give it to the community to improve. But they're forcing you to play the game their way or you can't make any progress. Sure, you can 100% the game AND then play modded runs but I want to use mods immediately. Especially since there's a lot of stuff in the game that's arguably poorly balanced that mods can fix (which is part of why we have mods in the first place) that I wouldn't feel is "cheating" to use, and considering this is a SINGLEPLAYER game it shouldn't matter.
Harsh.
