The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

A problem with the items in Afterbirth+
I am surprised that no one has pointed the problem with most of the items in Afterbirth+ already. But anyways, the problem is that most of these items are just better versions of older items. Here take a look:

Apple!:
Gives you a random chance to fire a razor blade which deals 400% damage instead of your normal tears

• +0.4 Tears Up.

• This item also turns your tears red, but does not change your actual damage stat or the damage your normal tears do

Now doesn't this item remind you of...

Tough Love:

Isaac has a random chance to fire a tooth shot instead of a tear sometimes.

• Teeth shots deal damage equal to your tear damage * 3.2.

Another example:

Shard of Glass:
• When Isaac takes damage, he has a small chance to gain +5 Range and leave a trail of blood creep behind him as he walks for the current room (similar to the effect of Anemic).

Anemic:
• +5 Range Up.

• When Isaac takes damage, he will start to leave a trail of blood creep behind him as he walks for the current room.

Another one:

Cone Head:

• +1 Soul Heart

• Each time you take damage, Cone Head has a chance to prevent it from reducing your health (similar to the Infamy item)

Infamy:

• Puts a shield on Isaac's face making it so he has a high chance to not take damage to projectiles from any direction.

Another one:

Glaucoma:

• Adds a chance to shoot a concussive tear, which will cause enemies to walk around dazed in confusion for a short while.

Iron Bar:

• +0.3 Damage Up.

• Tears now have a chance to concuss enemies, causing them to walk around dazed and confused for a short period of time.

The most insulting one:

Shade:

• Isaac gains a shadow familiar that will follow Isaac's movement pattern but delayed by 3 seconds and deal contact damage to enemies

Obsessed Fan:

• A purple familiar fly that follows your exact movement on a 3 second delay and deals contact damage to enemies.

Other problem is that, there are no epic items like: Brimstone, Chaos, Tech X, Maw of the Void, Atheme, Incubus, God Head. Atleast 3-4 items like these should be added to a DLC to make players carve for these new awesome items. Now you might say that Delirius is an epic item but I disagree, Delirius is a 12 charge room cleaner and not a good one at that. If you are aiming to use Delirius on Hush or Delirium then its still useless because it doesn't deal all that good damage if you don't get something like Satan, Sister Vis, Ultra Greed etc.

Well, those were my opinions on why Afterbirth+ has bad items. There are some good items too of course like Duality, Finger, Contagion, Eye of Belial and Jacob's Ladder etc. but rest of the items pale in comparrison.

WE DON'T NEED OP items like Brimstone, Texch X and etc. But some items with unique proporties that doesn't have to be absurdly strong would be fine

Well OP items generally are Special Items so, why not?

Special Items= If you get a special item in a run, it will get harder to find another one. Meaning, if you find a Brimstone, it'll be much harder to find Mom's Knife in the same run.

Oh, you'll see a lot of OP items with the monthly updates, I am sure of it!

Or if you're not sure, make one with mods, and show it to the devs, and if it is cool, it will be added the next month in the game.

Isn't this why it was named AB+ and not it's own name?

Oooooh I totally forgot about the monthly updates... oh well, still %50 of AB+ items right now just suck.

Anemic, Tough Love, Infamy and Iron Bar are Rebirth items. And what you're saying is not an excuse. Its still a DLC. A DLC shouldn't give me better versions of items or reskins.

I'm looking at you Heartstone...

I wasn't making an excuse; I was just trying to make a guess. Why must you be so mean?

Did it occur to you that these items stack with the other ones?

Yeah they can stack but again, not an excuse for lazy item design.

Well your comment didn't have much of an explanation, your comment sounded like you were trying to make an excuse for poor item design.
