How to get good?
I have been playing a good bit on this and love it, but I keep watching these videos of stuff i have never seen, I never get these crazy over the top powers, I have beaten moms heart about 4 times. out of at least 5-600 attempts! Is it just luck?

Do you need to do all the challanges to unlock the best stuff or is just matter of a lucky run and finding all the secret rooms?

I keep seeing mega satan and other crazy bosses as well. I think I have some reading to do to be honest.

The best thing to do is keep going. You'll die a lot yes, but keep going. The more runs you do, the more practice you get. You may not become the greatest Isaac player in the world, but at least you'll be eons better than when you started.

Isaac is hard and you havent playd that much. Its not a game you 100% in a week if you never have playd it. Its some luck but the more you play the more % you win. Some people can almost win 100% of the time and that to me is a proof that its not that much luck.
Challanges dont get you to mega satan, dont know how much you whant me to spoil but keep kill moms heart and you will go deeper :).

Play because its fun and you will get better. Dont think there is a secret tips that makes you win in isaac you just need to play and learn. The wiki is good if you whant to look somthing up.

I recommend watching some of the best players when possible and also just playing and dying a lot until you get better at recognizing what to do in a situation which really boils down to experience. there is no magic bit of text we can put here thats gonna make you better, youre gonna have to accomplish it on your own. dont give up, thats the best advice I can give. I was terrible at this game too until I played it for literally hundreds of hours lol

cheers folks, was just wondering if there was something i was missing or it's, like said, just keep playing! I am playing afterbirth on xbox too.
Play, read up, and most importantly, watch streamers.

When your reflexes fail you, then do it the methodical way -
As an expert in twin stick games - I can tell you that even if I drop a game of the genre for a very long time, I can jump back into it ALMOST as if I never stopped playing it.

The trick is to recognize AI behavior, mixed with gained knowledge about items, combinations and mechanics.

Execute your input by recognizing repeating patterns and situations, rather than thinking on your feet (although it's also important).

It really just comes down to practice. I'm quite bad at video games, and for a while I felt like beating the late game bosses was IMPOSSIBLE for someone with my skill. I just made my first Mega Satan kill. With Azazel, granted, but again, I'm really bad at games. The more you play, the better you'll get at it.
If you're REALLY struggling, watching Youtubers like Northern Lion play the game can really help. I learned about techniques I'd never thought of that I now fully incorporate into my play.
Avoid damage. Learn enemy patterns and Dodge, learn how to dodge. You can win the whole Game of You can reliably avoid damage.

Actually, 5 more. But hey, 6 heart kills is still a good start. Probably wouldn't reccommend relying on super OP runs too much, though.

The things that really helped me when I first started was item recognition, knowing what items to pick up or not pick up, finding secrets rooms, and being able to spot tinted rocks. Really try to shoot for a deal with the devil on the 2nd floor (don't take red heart damage). Also sinking a couple hundred hours will help haha

Easy way to beat the rest of the game is try to only unlock good items. Like only unlock jera and perthro runes. Make sure to unlock some good challenge items too like death's touch. Lilith has a ton of good item unlocks where as cain has absolute trash.

Try to avoid playing characters with trash unlocks or achivements with them that unlock trash. Then once you've unlocked pretty much everything good, then go for 100 percent.
