Pong Challenge Issue

So, i started the "Pong" challenge in Afterbirth+, where the end goal is beating ??? in the Chest. Problem is that i couldn't tell the Polaroid from the Negative icon at first, so assumed it was the Negative and proceeded to take it.

I have to reach the Chest to beat the challenge however, and since i took the Negative i wasn't able to finish the challenge on that run, which is very annoying.

Devs, if you are reading this, could you please consider removing the Negative item from the item pool in that challenge so that this won't happen again? Thanks.

One little thing you can do for challenges like those ( under the assumption that the other item isn't removed for the sake of challegnes ) is to look up the specific mark to know where you have to go, trust me i know what you mean, the chest and dark room marks look pretty similar

this has been like this since afterbirth came out, its not a problem just learn the different icons

Where do you check that?

Even if you do learn the icons, which still look very similar, it is very easy to mess up. Maybe you've been too close to the wrong item, maybe you just didn't pay attention.
Regardless, this item prevents you from completing the challenge entirely and thus shouldn't be obtainable in that specific run.

Where do you check that?

You check that via the left side under your items, there is a little icon there during the challenges.

Saying that, I myself didn't have any trouble at all determining what item it was, even though I hadn't played the game in a year or so. It was just instinctive to me - "Oh, the outside is white, like a Polaroid camera photo?" Maybe it's just because you kids don't know what a real Polaroid looked like... ;)

I realized that i had to kill ??? specifically when only the Cathedral opened up after defeating It Lives. I had the Negative equipped, so instead of continuing to the Chest after beating Isaac, my run ended and i wasn't able to complete it.

I'v mistook the goal for the dark room aswell, since it's been awhile since I played. pong is a really easy challenge though. so I was fine with the second try.

Yeah, Pong is rediculously easy, but fun. Too bad that the fun was cut short by a small mistake that shouldn't be possible in the first place.

You see, here's the thing with reading stuff on the internet: You NEVER know if someone is being sarcastic unless they outright tell it to you or make it obvious enough.
There are a lot of jerks out on the internet, and you can never tell who pretends and who really means it.

Then i am even more confused. The trapdoor to Sheol didn't even appear for me! Instead it just opened up the Cathedral and that was it.

No, you definitely have to defeat ???? for Pong. I made the same mistake as OP. And even more infuriating was that I had acquired Godhead on that run. The aura was as big as a room and everything just died instantly. I also didn't have the trapdoor to Sheal appear and the run ended after Isaac. Much to my dismay! :)
