Apollyon? Really?

I'll start with noting that The Lost, The Keeper, Lilith, and even Azazel and ???, all have unique traits that change the way you play the game. Then we have the new "Character" Apollyon. He's not a new character. He's just got a new item.
Yes, Void is a VERY cool item, but that's the item. Apollyon just starts with it.
Bear in mind, this is a game with MOD support where you're supposed to be able to customize pretty much anything, and what do we get for a new character? Without his item, he's basically just a grey Isaac with "wings," who can't even fly!

aanyways. you actualy have to play as apollyon to unlock his item for others I reckon.
back in wrath of the lamb, they added samson who is now a default in rebirth, he's just an Isaac with the blood lust item. your point?

Thats every character in a nutshell, only lost and keeper are properly "different" cain is just issac minus 1 health with luck foot and a slight dps boost, Judas is just issac with 2 less health, more damage and book of belial

You're right. Without her items, Lilith is literally useless, because she's always blindfolded, which is what makes her unique. You can't shoot with Lilith, you have to shoot with your Familiars, which changes the way you move and shoot - it changes the way you play the game.

You're right. Without her items, Lilith is literally useless, because she's always blindfolded, which is what makes her unique. You can't shoot with Lilith, you have to shoot with your Familiars, which changes the way you move and shoot - it changes the way you play the game.

yeah, I guess you're right. but what about samson, eve, judas,cain and lazarus? I'v had runs where I'v had items that made me almost identical to a different character's play.

I just noted Lilith's difference above. As for Azazel, he is unique because he has a half-brimstone that doesn't exist as an item. It's like brimstone, but really short-range, which, again, changes the way you play the game.

But it's expected that the old characters, like Samson and Maggy are just slightly different, because they were still developing the game back then. My point is that with fully-customizable MOD support and a history of unique characters, Apollyon is... Pretty meh.

Again, without the item. The item itself... WOW. Void + Diplopia? Void + Pandora's Box? Void + Car Battery?!!! OH HELL YES! [Edit: all of the hell-yes single-sue items have been nerfed with void... so... yeah. It's pretty good.]

you gotta admit it's pretty powerful and fun to start with the void tho. and it's unique to him until you unlock it for other characters.

you gotta admit it's pretty powerful and fun to start with the void tho. and it's unique to him until you unlock it for other characters.

I acutally just edited my above comment on that subject. Void is AWESOME! Without it though, Apollyon is nothing.

well, we knew about this character for a while. his concept didn't come as a suprise to me. I'm kinda mixed on his uniqueness, but he's a fun character nonetheless. and that's really all I want.

Side note about Void; consuming items does not count as collecting them. I collected 2 Guppy Items and consumed another one... No Guppy. If you're going to consume the Head or Paw, pick it up first.
