Afterbirth + Room Editor not Working
Hello there, so I just purchased Afterbirth + and wanted to do some Room Editing. The Problem: Whenever I start the "RoomEditor.exe" a warning will come up, saying:

Warning: Could not open entities D:/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/The Binding of Isaac Rebirth/ entites2.xml!
Please adjust the settings (Tools->Settings...),then try again.

After that the Editor just Opens but if I click on any Buttons on it, it will instantly crash.

I have experimented a bit and moved the missing entities2.xml from the D:/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/The Binding of Isaac Rebirth/resources - entities2.xml
to the TBOI Rebirth Folder and the Warning didn't come up but the program still crashes instantly. Am I doing something wrong?
A friend of mine who has also TBOI has the same problem so I guess it isnt just me?

Thanks for the help.

yes, you are, put anything you moved from resources back into the resources folder, and edit the path in the settings document (in the same folder as the room editor.exe file) so it is: D:/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/The Binding of Isaac Rebirth/resources

After this you may run into the error:
"Could not read some stages from XML files in: D:/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/The Binding of Isaac Rebirth/resources/rooms/
You might want to import them from binary STB files (File -> Import Binary...)"

I have no clue how to fix this one though, as i don't know how to import (or even open) from binary STB files

@Reaper Eyup I tried changing the Path to /resources too but this error came up instead, not to mention that the RoomEditor.exe still instantly Crashes... hmm...
maybe in the near future somebody sees this problem and finds a solution... thanks though

I might of made a bit of progress on this problem. When you open the room editor you can ignore the new warning and then continue to the editor. In the top left you can open the file menu where you can select the "import binary" option. Then you go to the game's resources and select the "rooms" folder, which for you should be D:/SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\The Binding of Isaac Rebirth\resources\rooms

After you do this you should be able to select the room menus on the left and view them. The only problem I've found with this so far is that you have to do this everytime you load the editor, but there's probably a way to fix this.

@Luke I love you. #nohomo it worked perfectly for me!... for now I think at least. I Did what you said and now I can use the program without an crash, open the binaries of the original game and save new rooms into a seperate folder as an example. Closed it and reopened it and didnt have to import the binary's again so... I dunno the problem you have there :/ but at least it works (kinda) that way. Thank you very much!

You're welcome, hopefully other people see this if they're struggling too. Also, it does seem wierd that it's not permanent for me.

Sure enough... Also it still seems a bit buggy about opening your rooms and previewing it, because of that I will need to research solutions before I can do some rooms, if I stumble upon a solution for your problem then I'll try to inform you about it.

It's not a major problem since it doesn't take very long, but thanks anyway.

I think I found a way to keep the settings. (seems to have worked for me anyway)

After you do everything you said and have all the rooms on the left hand side go up to File and then hit save. That seems to have made it so I can open the editor without any problems and the rooms stay too.

try running the resource extractor then opening the room editor (i have no idea if it works but someone tried it and it worked for them

Yeah, that works but then you have to do a few more steps shown a few comments above.

Also quick sidenote, does anybody know of any keyboard shortcuts? It's kind of anoying having to click items onto every individual tile.

@Luke i doubt there are any shortcuts :/

Well I have worked with the room editor a bit, the weights don't seem to work, I am trying to set up a shop to have 40% chance of a item to buy, 40% chance of an enmy spawn and 20% chance of a free item, and no matter how I set the weights 100% of the time which ever of the 3 I set first shows up weither I weight it .2 .4 .4, .1 1 1, 2 4 4 etc Any idea why its not working right?

I honestly haven't used the wieght thing at all, but I noticed that you can change the weight of the entire room, maybe you have to make sure that it equals the total weight of all the other items in the room? If that doesn't work, then I have no idea at all.

Both the weight of the room and the weight of the things spawned in a tile don't seem to be working. Even when taking a room that was made already, the shop that is suppose to hav 85% chance of a donation machine and 15% chance of a reroll machine, if you switch the order the two things where set down from to set down the reroll machince first but keep the weights the same of 15% reroll and 85% donation and put it into the game 100% of the time the reroll machine is coming up after 30 tries even though its suppose to have a low percentage. If you test the room with the testing tools it works properly with holding R will switch between the two different spawn items, but once you put it in the game and try testing it there it just takes the first item placed down no matter the weight of the spawns.
