The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Mimic chests, really?
I hate to jump on the circlejerk, but seriously, AB+ is bad.

Who thinks that adding half soul hearts makes the game more fun? If you want people to stop using the reset button, why not just remove it?

The new portals are broken, they ♥♥♥♥ out tons of durable enemies on the first floor, they just can't be dealt with effectivly with some builds.

Invincible fatties. Great, thats what everyone likes, enemies you cant kill, especially with giant hitboxes so they block your shots but let enemy shots through.

The new final boss is a joke, he doesn't even animate properly, jumps around, has HP scaling (Because everyone *loved* that from afterbirth) and is just a boss rush clone.

The new rooms are either extremely sparse or extremely rare.

But the cherry on top of it all are the chests that grow spikes when you get close. Why? Why would you do that? How does that in any way add to the game? Its just annoying, and I think it shows what the main problem is with this update. It isn't fun.

I had no hype going into this, and I still managed to be let down.

I was so hyped and planned on not doing anything for *days* but playing AB+, now I suspect I might not be even playing tomorrow. I love this game and I hate to have to agree with you, but I do.

Well, I guess Season 9 of Diablo 3 starts Friday. *sigh*

also the "new" items are mostly just variants of the old ones. yay great

I agree the portals are broken but I don't want the developers to feel angry/sad/frustrated from our comments.

Sadly have to agree with you. was looking forward to the update and just seems to be a bunch of cheap ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Definitely regret my purchase.

What were you even hyped for? The main focus of this DLC was modding tools.
Everything else is just extra stuff they threw in.
Unless you planned to make mods, there wasn't really anything to get hyped about.

i thought i'd mind invincible fatties, but they've honestly yet to be an annoyance, well... okay they're annoying but you have to path around the room to make distance from them every once in a while, not a big problem yet for me.

portals are fine too, they just force you to rethink your enemy priority, i haven't seen any of the particularly ♥♥♥♥♥♥ layouts featuring them yet though.

i saw one of the mimics before and i'm glad that got added, where's the fun in a mimic if you know it's a mimic beforehand, that ♥♥♥♥ should jump up and bite you in half, glad it actually got added, i hoped we'd have proper ones, would be cool to have a mimic boss too.

As time goes on they seem to be forgetting that being challenging and being annoying are two different things. I have no real problem with the stone fatties, the portals are an interesting idea but seem to be a little overtuned in terms of how fast they spawn things (literally 3-4x as fast as anything else that summons adds in the game), and I can even forgive the half soul heart unlock as it's really not that big of a deal and more of a jab at people who constantly reset. But the mimic chests. That ♥♥♥♥ is intolerable. ESPECIALLY when in the same game they expect us to play as the Keeper / the Lost? Are you kidding me? So now in addition to all of the other crap that can instantly end a run that you have very little control over, now even OPENING A CHEST is a dangerous gamble that can instantly cost you 10-60 minutes of your life? ♥♥♥♥ that noise. That's just insulting.

It was advertized first as: New items, new mode, new final floor, new new character, oh and mod tools and updates. :D

I don't think I am wrong to be disappointed in four of the five things put forth in the new dlc and uninterested in the fifth.

If they had delivered on the new items, greedier mode, final floor, and character actually being interesting (as well as not actively killing the gameplay I currently love, which they kinda did), I would have been happy, even completely not utilizing the mod capabilities (which I won't).

In fact, in their blog post talking about the features list, mod tools were a *footnote* at the end of the features list and not even actually part of the list. If it was mostly a modding tools DLC, that is not how you advertize it and I would not have paid $6 for that.

In case you wonder what I mean: http://bindingofisaac.com/post/143043162269/lets-get-to-it

That is not the run down of a "mod dlc" and "if you don't mod, why get excited?" That is a rundown which should have been as interesting as a slightly smaller afterbirth and it just isn't.

Straight from the horse's mouth: "so i took a vacation from isaac and reddit for a while (aside from AB+ testing) but i took a gander and it seems like a lot of you think Afterbirth+ is just going to be some dev tools for you to play with… well… YOU, ARE, WRONG!"
