Do you need Afterbirth + for mods?
I super don't want to get Afterbirth + because it seems like a waste of money for so little content and apparently buttwrenching non-fun and figured I could just install mods while I wait for antibirth to be a steam mod (Honestly I just want to use the playable Siren mod because shes rad) but none of my mods are taking effect after subscribing to them. Do I NEED Afterbrith + to install mods or does that just make it easier? If I don't need it how would I go about installing steam mods onto the game since they don't seem to be working?

Also while I'm pretty sure it isn't possible, if anyone is aware of a way to mod Antibirth with steam mods I would love to know about that.

To use Steam workshop mods, yes, you need to own and have installed AB+. Which is one of the reasons people were mad about putting mods behind a paywall, when they could have just as easily added in a free update that allows everyone to use the workshop.

But there's a ton of mods already out for Rebirth and Afterbirth. Try googling "the modding of isaac". Lots of good mods on that site.

Edit: Well, looks like you can use some of the mods on the Workshop for Rebirth and AB, it just depends on what type of mod it is. Anything involving LUA will not work, but stuff that is packaged like older mods on the modding of isaac site will work.

After downloading a workshop mod, you find the workshop folder on your computer, which will be (or wherever you installed it):

C:\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\250900

Copy the contents (you don't need to copy the file named metadata), and paste into your resources folder, like you would do for manually installing any other mod.

Ah, thanks a bunch! Yeah locking FREE COMMUNITY MADE MODS behind a not very liked dlc seems super jerky of them but nothing I can do about that. Thanks for the help though, really appreciate the detailed help!

Right now it doesnt really worth its money, but you just wait till Edmund adds Antibirth mod to the main content of Afterbirth+, then it will be worth 100%.
