Antibirth was meant to be a mod with new enemies, bosses and other new stuff.
AB+ was meant to add primarily a mod support and few little things for who was not interested in the mods like lore's pieces.
Compare who between those two was the best isn't fair... their target were different... it is like compare a sport game to a FPS .
In my opinion AB+ was a good DLC because its reached its main target.
Anyway just my opinion.
This is all just my opinion of course.
Oh and let me just add that updates that break people's saves, erase all their achievements, and prevent people from playing the game on another OS (such as mac users) is unacceptable.
Did you forget how many patches Afterbirth had when it came out?
Though I do understand where you're coming from, having been here from the very beginning has taught me one thing: Every new TBOI, be it full game or expansion, gets a ton of patches early on.
On the plus side AB+ is getting patched reasonably frequently, especially when stuff like accidentally uploading it to a developers version happens.
The only thing, in general, that I really can complain about when it comes to AB+ so far, is the fact that Edmund and Nicalis are getting bullied into a corner again by (mostly) Reddit whiners/noobs and the likes. Nerfing unfair stuff, I get (Like the mom's foot insta-dmg at the Delerium fight).
What i don't get is the unnecessary OVER-nerfing of stuff that isn't even that hard, but just takes some getting used to and possible pattern recognition.
For example: I'm pretty sure, now that they nerfed portals to destroy themselves mostly after just 1 enemy, and Stone Fatties to take a rest every 4-5 steps (incidentally, they rest longer than they walk), they are going after the Greedier/Ultra Greed now.
Now a nerf in there, isn't a bad thing per say, depending on what they nerf. See, the thing where he shoots out 4-5 explosive "bullets" in a V, that I would understand getting, well, not so much nerfed, but tweaked, since the hitbox on those bullets is ridiculous and very unrealistic.
What I wouldn't get is if they'd nerf his bomb-dropping thingy when he jumps just because people are apparently too busy whining to realise that if you just don't stand in his path, he actually cannot hit you with that.
And lastly, mostly for the people who keep praising Antibirth, sometimes even at the expense of AB+.. This is called "wanting the underdog to win". People are always more susceptible to want the underdog to win. Now this isn't a bad thing per say, but imagine this:
If Antibirth never came out as a stand alone, and it secretly got released as a Mod on AB+ day 1: People would flip out. You know why? Because though, sure, Antibirth added some enemies, items, characters, e.t.c., but the game was buggy as hell. So much so that I actually quit playing it because it kept crashing on me. And as far as I read, a lot of people have/had the same problem.
Now the funny thing is, the sudden crashes in Antibirth are actually game-related, no one gets blamed.
The people with AB+ who get the .dll error and are flaming about it: VC Redist problem (and in some cases even "let's never install Windows Updates" or "I am using a pirated Windows version, so I don't have my crap together" problem). Has to do with executables not really working together on Win7 PCs.
Who gets blamed for that? Right, you guessed it.. The developers.
It's funny though, the way the people work.

i agree with you on that people comparing antibirth to the new dlc. there's no reason to create that comparison at all. people are just spoiled by the new shiny mod. i played it for a little while, but stopped since it doesn't support afterbirth and whatnot. that mod also has its own separate problems that people should highlight relevant to that mod.
the portals and stoners just seem super out of place in isaac. from the way i see it, portals is just a cheap gimmick to make rooms last longer than normal (especially on the early floors w/ low dps) its an artificial difficulty mechanic that just says "add more enemies for no real reason" stoners are just as annoying and seem designed to be annoying in conjunction with portals. im not saying its hard all the time, but i cant say im always thrilled to see 3 portals hiding behind rocks where you either A. hope you have bombs B. risk taking damage to destroy the portal or C. wait it out (worst thing you can do) personally i think portals should be a void floor exclusive mechanic, as that's where it makes the most sense for them to appear. you download this dlc and suddenly you have to deal with portals spawning everywhere...doesn't make sense. at least make it so that with every portal destroyed, it slightly increases the chance for you to reach the actual void floor...at least that much would make some sort of sense
