Coincidence and confirmation bias.
It is but a fact that some many rooms will be that way but nope, "almost always" is certainly not the case. Rather what is "almost always" the case is that super secret rooms are as close to the boss room as possible... or the furthest away because Murphy's Law.
There are by the by indeed quite many rooms that when lacking a door at a certain location, it is literary always the case that one secret room is there. This might be because of the map generation having those or all normal (not special) rooms require all the doors that set in the room editor (hence why also many rooms may be super ducklings rare).
On a side note, my personal favorite are those rooms with blue fires and a hidden door~
i'm gonna chill over here guessing it right 12 times in a row despite there being multiple possible secret rooms
google. its a thing
I'm generally speaking. Didn't you know about the trinket?
