The Item Pool
Quick question since I've nearly ran out of Eden Tokens... Are their more effecient ways to get items from certain item pools? I need Greeds Gullet (Secret Room Item type) and I've been trying for nearly 6 hours straight restarting the first floor with Issac and grinding secret rooms for the chance I even get a item in one... I know Chaos is a thing trust me I wen into greed mode with Blank card two of dimonds and just sat their waiting to recieve the item I needed...

(Spoiler Warning I never got the item) So what I'm trying to ask is, Can this be a little less tedious?

I'd do Isaac runs.

D6 gives the Shop re-roll (for Chaos and/or Restock), and the reroll on the off-chance for the Secret Room pedestal.

It might be worth trading in the D6 for either the D20 or Blank Card if you want to try to break the game and get it that way.

When I was searching for Raw Liver back in Rebirth, I used to play regular runs as Isaac.

Take everything that might give you more rerolls (batteries generation items, Sharp Plug etc), make items spawn in the secret rooms and reroll them.

So basicaly, save up the cards that make a beggar/blood donation machine spawns in order to use them.
I'm not sure if it's still doable, since I haven't play as Isaac in a while, but you can also save all the items that teleport you out of the secret room. If you find Greed in one, kill him first, don't clean the rest of the room and get out. Repeat as long as you can. You might be abble to spawn several Steam Sale in the same room before rerolling them.

In the same time, keep an eye open for Pandora's box in the Shops.

Edit : Maybe not the quickest way to do it, but quick enough and definitely the less tedious.

This item is INSANELY rare. It was one of the first items I unlocked after release and I've seen it a grand total of two times since - and I play a lot. I've seen everything else at least five times now, except Delirious, which I've found once.

Both times I got the Gullet, I had Chaos and got it in a Shop. First time, I just got lucky. Second time, I broke the game with Restock + Double Steam Sale, got Chaos after about 10 items, then found the Gullet around 20 items later.

Barring Eden, Isaac in Greed Mode is your best bet. Just hunt down Chaos. Start a game and go to the Shop. If no Chaos, use D6. If still no Chaos, restart. Once you find Chaos, you'll just have to hope that the Gullet is somewhere in the seed, and constatnly re-roll the Shop.

I would just play as isaac and look for judgement.temperance cards etc that can spawn items and keep them for the secret rooms. Also bomb the shopkeepers as they can drop items to reroll at times too. I got lucky when i found greeds gullet as i had judgement card and blank card and also found 1 of the secret room reroll machines. I think thats the safest bet. Not all items are in greed mode pool so if you were going to try chaos greed mode id make sure its in that pool first. Just to show its possiblle heres a ss of when i found it. It seemed so rare it deserved 1!

The problem is that Item Pools aren't the same as Seeds. Just because an item is in the secret pool, doesn't mean that that item is avaliable in the seed you're playing. There are 400+ items in the game now, but even when you break the game, you get about 50 before you start turning up nothing but Breakfast. Even breaking the game isn't a guarintee to get a specific item. For something that rare, you may have to break the game a few times.

The secret room pool is much smaller though making it more likely for favourable rerolls. Plus im still not sure greeds gullet is i greed pool at all but i could be wrong

If you're looking for a passive item, just go break greed mode. Blank card + 2 of diamonds + battery in shop, buy everything (but don't touch the pill bag or you'll lose your card!) and when you've had enough, use the D4 to cycle through any items you haven't bought.

The real nightmare is when you need to find active items that don't appear in greed mode item pools since apparently even Chaos can't bring them into greed mode. The last item I needed for my collection was an active item in the Angel Room. I eventually decided to aim for one of two combos: Dr. Fetus + Party Bombs + Sack Boy (infinite batteries) or Wafer + Sharp Plug (can use active item without a charge at the cost of 1/2 heart.) Once you have a combo, find an angel room, bomb the angel statue and defeat it to get the key drop, then reroll until you find the item you're looking for. I probably reset 200 times before I found Dr. Fetus in treasure room adjacent to the starting room, and ended up finding Wafer and Sharp Plug later anyway. And then the next angel room I found gave me the item I'd been looking for for 2 weeks on my first reroll. :berserk:

Always use Isaac when hunting for items since he starts with the D6.

I've been playing for nearly 8 hours to get this item and no such luck I'm going to call it a day and try later...

I think you're right...Since Greed's Gullet doesn't appear in any greed mode item pool I don't think that even Chaos can allow you to acquire it. D4 only gives items from the treasure room pool so it's limited by the game mode as well.

It took me 2 weeks to find Delirious, so hopefully it doesn't take you that long to find Greed's Gullet.
