Unrecognized gamepad (SOLVED)

Hello,
I have played for about 20 hours Afterbirth+ on my xbox one S controller connected via Bluetooth to PC with no problems, but suddenly yesterday it just stopped working.
Now I can play with my keyboard and cord connected xb1 s controller but when I try to play via BT I’m getting an information “unrecognized gamepad please set up a key config for the connected controller”. I cannot set up any keys in the options>controller>bluetooth xinput because the page is empty. Tried to reinstall both game and steam client with no avail. Tried also to copy code form corded xinput to wireless xinput in inputconfings.dat but it didn’t help either. The controller is good because I can play on it with other games via BT. The only way to play wireless is to start a new run with corded controller, options>controls and connect via BT this controller then it’s works as it should until the next run. I can share my log, options.ini and inputconfings.dat

SOLUTION: I have found a solution, but I don’t think this method is the ultimate one but it does work for now.
I unchecked two of DLC’s(AB, AB+) in steam client what resulted in unistalling them, then I started the game, It opened as a basic Rebirth version. I finally managed to set up controls on a BT connected controller in options>controls in game. Lastly I copied an inputconfings.dat from Rebirth folder and put pasted it to Afterbirth+ folder(Documents>MyGames>), checked both DLC’s (installed them again) and it works.

I'm late to the party but I just ran into this issue myself. I followed your solution but with some different steps.

So I uninstalled the DLCs, opened vanilla Rebirth, and went to the controller setup page in options>controls. There I clicked on the profile to remap and just took some pictures of where the different buttons appear on the screen (since my issue was, like you said, the page in AB and AB+ doesn't show the order of the buttons you have to map). Then I reinstalled the DLCs and, following the pics I took, mapped out the buttons accordingly. Heads up, the bottom two rows of mapping input options are null, as far as I can tell they don't map to anything and I'm not sure why they're there at all.

I'm sure yours worked too, but here's my workaround for people who don't want to dig through the .dat files in the game folder!

I can't tell you just how much I appreciate this simple fix. I've been banging my head against the wall trying to find a controller that works with Binding of Isaac on mac, and almost had given up hope. Turns out it was just the options menu not showing the controller mappings in the DLC. Yikes! Anyway, thanks again fam

Doesnt work for me. The controller (Xbox series controller) is reconnized like 2 controllers, one named "P" and the second XInput. When I play, I just can play the second player.

My fix was enabling "Xbox Configuration Support" in Steam's Settings -> Controller -> General Controller settings. After checking this option the game finally made my controller primary.

I ran into this issue when I bough a new Xbox controller. I was using an xbox one pad.

When I upgraded to a new Xbox controller, I started getting the unrecognised error.

I remapped the new controller, and could switch in the in game menu, but it would use the old pad as a default every time i loaded the game. It wasn't a huge issue, but it was annoying

Anyway, I tried Pavel's solution, and it worked for me. In the general controller setting I switched to default controls, and then back to Xbox. I clicked recognise controller for good measure.

I reloaded the game and now my new controller is the default option

hey I had the same problem with the xbox x controller. All you have to do is go to steam, propierties of isaac, controller and ''ENABLE STEAM INPUT''. Then you start a new run and it should go okey
