The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

Progress partly gone after installing Afterbirth+
After installing Afterbirth+ I lost all the progress I made in Afterbirth. I still have all my Rebirth unlocks, but the Lost, the Keeper, Godhead etc., which I unlocked after Afterbirth came out, are all gone. When I disable the DLC I do get them back, so the original Afterbirth saves are not affected.
Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Seems like the game is accidentally grabbing your rebirth saves, not your afterbirth saves. This happened to me too, and this is what I did:

All your save files are located in "[Your Steam Installation Folder]/userdata/[Your Steam UserID]/250900/remote"

Rebirth saves are named "persistentgamedata#.dat" (replace the # with a number for the save slot. For example save slot 2 will be "persistentgamedata2.dat)

Afterbirth saves are named "ab_persistentgamedata#.dat"

Afterbirth+ saves are named "abp_persistentgamedata#.dat"

First, make a backup of this folder just to be safe, you don't want to accidentally ruin everything.

Then, copy your "ab_persistentgamedata#.dat" and rename the copy to "abp_persistentgamedata#.dat"

Finally, try launching the game and see what happens.

Thanks for the reply.

Just tried your suggestion and it says the data is corrupt.
I've also tried using files from \Documents\My Games\Binding of Isaac Afterbirth, but this didn't help either.

Apparently it does load some old Afterbirth save, since I can see a Greed run for one of the characters. If I knew where it gets the save data I might find a solution...

I guess you could play a run both with and without afterbirth plus, then search you computer for the save files and see where the data is actually being stored.

If you absolutely can't get it to work, you can still sync unlocks with your steam achievements by going to the stats screen and pressing ALT+F2, though it won't fill out the post-it notes or remember your stats like mom kills and such. It's not optimal, but it's better than nothing

Great, the ALT+F2 trick is all I need. Thanks for the help!
