Consumed 2 lumps of coal?
I was fighting Krampus, he dropped a lump of coal, then I went to a store and saw another one for 15, bought that, I think my shots are even darker now but I can't tell, did I waste my coins?

According to the wiki, they don't.

There's a list of synergies/interactions of items with themselves on the wiki page of Diplopia (a one use item which duplicates everythin in the room). Lump of Coal is amongst the ones who get no additional effect.
